What a nice relaxing few days it’s been. I’m sure my retail-slavin’, buttocks-bustin’ spouse won’t agree (something about getting up at 4am to go to work in a mall every day), but I’ve had a wonderful time.
Today she had the day off and didn’t want to be stuck inside all day, since it was so absolutely gorgeous out. So, we just did like we used to do in Maine before we had a thousand channels of TV, a Playstation, DVD’s and PC’s to suck up our time. We hopped in the car and drove nowhere.
For about 7 hours the road was our occupation. We drove up 17-92 through Sanford and Deland up to Palatka, then back down through the Ocala National Forest. Stopped and had a completely off-the-diet, truck driver type supper at a simple little restaurant called Spoon Fork ‘n’ Knife in Salt Springs. Listened to a bad (I mean really bad) oldies station, then Prairie Home Companion. And generally had a wonderful time.
In case you’re interested, here’s a map of the area. Just ‘cuz I felt like it.
If you had just kept heading south, you could come seen me. 🙂
Glad you had a wonderful day.
Middle of Nowhereville, FL — sounds like fun! 🙂 Our favorite trip like that was to Yeehaw Junction. Made for some interesting pics…
In all my growing up in a Navy family, somehow we never got stationed in Florida. We probably flew from there to Puerto Rico when I was four, but my memory’s a tad vague about that trip.
I love road trips; why do I live on an island 2300 miles from anywhere?
I tried driving around Oahu once. Got bored about half way and cut back through the center… 🙂
We don’t do that as much as I wish we should. When we do get out it is most relaxing and enjoyable. Fun times and great memories… as long as we make it in one piece Haha 🙂
