About a year ago, the gas gauge on my 13-year-old car decided that it was tired of telling me how much fuel was in the tank. So, on my way to work this morning, I thought that I might want to stop at one of the three 7-11’s along the route.
Ya know how you just sorta get in the car and sleep-drive yourself to and from work? Um, yeah…
So, about a quarter-way between the 1st and 2nd gas stations, I got that sinking feeling that I was about to have a traffic incident. The car sputtered, and I begged it to let me do a u-turn and make it back to the 7-11.
Well, I got the u-turn out of it, but that was about it. I tried to pull over to the left side of the road just as a wide-load tractor trailer came barreling up behind me with a huge dump truck on its right giving it no place to move over. I gritted my teeth and prepared for the earth-shattering ka-boom. I survived the encounter by the barest of whiskers and got out to start pushing the car off the road.
Within 2 minutes, a pickup truck pulled up behind me, and a guy got out and asked what was wrong. When I told him, he said, “Hey! I got fuel.” Then, he hauled out a plastic gas can and filled me up with enough to make it to the store.
Totally cool, no?
Obviously all that monkeying around this summer has given you a direct line to somebody in charge. Lotto ticket or whatever else it is that makes you feel lucky, I say go for it, and I’m glad you’re all in one piece!
You’ve always been kind to others, sol, and you know that what goes around comes around. Or is that what comes around goes around? Well, either way, it’s a good feeling story. I’m glad things worked out for you. 🙂

Of course, you probably have a bit of karma working in your favor, so I guess I’m not terribly surprised. Even if it did happen in Florida. 🙂
