SNL’s First

I have only sporadically watched Saturday Night Live over the past 15 years or so. It’s just not that funny anymore.

But I’ll be tuning in this week when SNL re-runs their first episode in tribute to its host: George Carlin.

Even in this DVD/DVR age, there are some events worth having the country gathered around the boob tube at the same time.

Somehow, I think he’d make some wisecrack about it taking him being dead to be “Live! From New York!” again.

One of the comedy channels on Sirius was running non-stop Carlin stuff on Monday. I was on the way home, and “Words” showed up on the screen.

Then it hit me. Here came the “Seven Dirty Words”.

Damn shame he’s gone. Too soon.

I’ve already set the DVR to go…because like most of us who watched that first episode when it really was live, we’re all old and can’t stay awake that late any more.

thanks for the heads up – will tune in. (verra clever; i suspect he would say something like that.)
