Yes, it does remind me a bit of someone trying to justify our actions by claiming “we wuz snookered!” But Jim Lacey’s explanation of why we haven’t found WMD in Iraq sounds way more plausible than, “That uneducated bastard Saddam sure knew how to hide stuff, didn’t he?”

I found it horribly too plausible.
But then, in urban legends, it’s the most plausible ones that are least likely to be true.
So, I’ll continue to hope we find more.
I hadn’t even thought along those lines. Fascinating to contemplate. Thanks, Solly.
What’s the history of the author? Was he one of the war-promoters? If so, this looks like a weasel act to me; if not, it dulls Occam’s Razor down to a fare-thee-well. I don’t buy it.
I would laugh my fucking ass of if that was the case! Done in by his own stooges too afraid of the consequences of letting him down.
1) I’m not buying it.
2) This justified defying the world, increasing anti-American sentiment, and has made the U.S. safer… how?
Why can’t Bush, Rumsfeld & Cheney just be honest and say “THIS WAS ALL ABOUT KILLING THAT PIG FUCKER! HE TRIED TO KILL MY DADDY! I HATE HIM! I HATE HIM! I HATE HIM!”
I am all about vengeance. I can respect that.
