CNN.com – ‘Lost in Space’ villain Jonathan Harris dies at 87 – Nov. 4, 2002.
Bummer. Lost in Space (the TV show, not the silly movie) was one of my favorite shows when I was growing up. I remember, once, when there was smoke pouring under the door to our apartment because the basement furnace caught fire, I got mad at my mother for making me leave the burning building. “But, mom! It’s Lost in Space!”
Danger, Will Robinson!
I am saddened by his death, as well. Did you notice that he died in a hospital from a bloodclot during therapy for a bad back? Hell, I’d keep the backpain anyday.
Yes, but he was 87.
I know, I’ll keep saying crap like “yeah, but he was 72” or “she was 94” until I get to be that age. For all I remember, at some time I probably said, “Well, he was 40, after all…”
He was still funny, last I saw of him, doing interviews around the time that the movie came out. Apparently they offered him a cameo role in the film, like Mark Goddard, June Lockhart and the 2 girls did,(I think Billy Mumy wanted too much money) but he didn’t want to do anything other than play Dr. Smith. That was too bad, in my opinion… I got a chuckle out of the others doint those bits, and yes, I liked the movie. Sorry, Sol…. And it is too bad that he died…
