XP Workaround

If for whatever reason you cannot (or will not) install SP1, The Screen Savers has a workaround for the XP issue. Scroll down to the Boot Camp section to read it, or simply delete the “uplddrvinfo.htm” file from your system. It is located by default in “c:\windows\pchealth\helpctr\system\dfs\”.

Yeah, that was mentioned on the GRC thread. I wouldn’t trust it though, seeing as to how MS re-installs “missing” files every time you update something. (“Oh! This poor soul must’ve accidently deleted MSN from his Links. Better re-install it!”)

This happens to me frequently…first I uninstalled msn.com via the Control Panel uninstall Windows Components Option and now every time I do any update Microsoft wants to re-activate it…secondly I have installed Detonator 40 drivers for my video card and each time I do an update Microsoft wants to downgrade them to Det 29’s…which benchmark lower than the 40’s….crazy…

Linux is looking better all the time, but I don’t think I can get past the learning curve thing… :>
