I don’t know which is sadder: The fact that I almost forgot to update my list of Dr. Demento’s TOP 100 (or so) DEMENTED HITS (from Funny 25’s), or the fact that I remembered… Ah, well, if you didn’t have me to represent your deeply buried tendency to make nonsense lists, you’d suffer some sort of aneurysm or something. Three songs were already on the Top 100, and they all moved up a notch or two. “Fish Heads” inched closer to the #1 spot, and I suspect it will overtake Dead Puppies soon. “Viagra in the Waters” went from #19 to #17, passing Squirrels and the other Ogden Edsl hit, Kinko the Clown. And “Dungeons and Dragons” took over sole possession of the #25 spot, pushing Jeff Jaison’s Friendly Neighborhood Narco Agent down to #26.
The two new songs on the 100 are Weird Al’s “Whatever You Like” (which enters at #78, tied with his own Bedrock Anthem) and this year’s #1 song, “Save Me, Obama” by Robert Lund.
Nice to see Weird Al continuing to pump out stuff…
Go “Fish Heads”!
Still scratching my head over this, Solonor.
