Blogcritics Critiquees Announced

The Blogcritics Critiquees for Music have been announced. Each category lists the top five vote-getters (10 for Album of the Year). I put my choices in parentheses, so you can laugh and point at my ignorance.

Album of the Year (When I Was Cruel by Elvis Costello)
Song of the Year (“Without Me” by Eminem)
Songwriter of the Year (Elvis Costello)
Rock Album of the Year (Yankee Hotel Foxtrot by Wilco)
Country-Americana Album of the Year (Lovesick, Broke and Driftin’ by Hank Williams III, though I should have put in Down the Old Plank Road by the Chieftains)
R&B Album of the Year (Don’t Give Up On Me by Solomon Burke)
Jazz Album of the Year (Come Away With Me by Norah Jones)
Electronic Album of the Year (n/a)
Soundtrack Album of the Year (Road to Perdition)
Reissues and Collections of the Year (Elv1s 30 #1 Hits by Elvis Presley)
Best New Artist (Norah Jones)

They skipped out on World/Reggae Album (no idea) and Album That Sucked Most Vigorously (Avril Lavigne’s), but I didn’t exactly get my votes in on time (or with as many nominees as I was supposed to), so I can’t complain!

I have only heard one song by Norah Jones, and fell in love with it. I just ordered the cd from Amazon, so I should be really enjoying it in about a week.

Any list that has Elvis Costello and Norah Jones in it is okay by me. But yes, you should have put The Chieftains.
