It’s culture weekend here at Chez Rasreth

Last night we spent a lovely evening in the company of the lovely (yet still blissfully bitter) Bitter Kat at the Orlando Theatre Project’s production of “All in the Timing”. When there’s a comedy that includes monkeys trying to write Shakespeare, I am there!

Tonight, we are heading to the Orlando Gay Chorus show titled “Don’t Touch That Dial!” which features songs from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. Our friend Sherri is in that, and she’s going to be heavily featured. Yay!

Tomorrow is Palm Sunday, meaning lots of churchy stuff. Plus, I’m going to haul the recording equipment over there and capture the handbell choir on record. They really sound good, and I’ll upload a sample if it comes out ok.

Monday night, we’re going to a free reading of the Orlando Shakespeare Festival’s “Young Rube”, a musical comedy based on the life of cartoonist Rube Goldberg (the guy famous for the “Rube Goldberg machines”… ya know, like Wile E. Coyote or Wallace & Gromit come up with?).

    Holy culture-trip, batman!

My previous post ended prematurely, due in part to my evil spawn screaming something down the stairs, my even-evil-er spousal unit adding to the fray, and my dog (did I tell you we have a dog now?) insisting that he go out NOW.

Where was I? Culture…. cool! Neato, to quote a wise philosopher.

We even got in on the culture bandwagon a bit today. Picture me and my previously described evil-doers listening to an hours worth of opera? Well, Bucky, that’s just what we did this afternoon. We have some friends whose daughter is a Senior at UM-Zero, majoring in music, and this recital was part of her BS stuff. It was pretty good, actually. Didn’t understand a word of it, but since when has that been a requisite in music?

Me, listening to opera. Next thing you’re gonna tell me is that the Red SOx will win a World Series in my lifetime.

Have fun with all your culture-y goodness.

I forgot to mention who else is in “Young Rube.” Michael Andrew (of Swingerhead) is the lead. And I think one of the guys (the sailor monkey) from “All in the Timing” is in it as well.

Is your brain yogurt now? Mine sure is.

Hope you enjoyed the concert! I wish I lived closer to the cultural center of the local universe. The sticks ain’t all that.

So, do we get a review? i want to hear you say nice things about me after you are done with Churchy Stuff.
