you know what solly? if you hadn’t joined the chorus of town criers i might not have caught on within a blogging day, which means i would’ve missed the chance to hop on the bandwagon with fervor like the rest of my MT following compatriots.
and she asks: “do i really need to upgrade mt again? didn’t i just do that?”
and he says: “boo! go home you boogerhead boo-hissy bran! booo!”
So tell me why I should upgrade from 2.21 — I need to convince Kim that we should do this. She’s been leery, since she was able to make MT work with ASP, which apparently isn’t easy, and all of those PHP tricks over on ScriptyGoddess won’t work for us.
There are only two reasons to ever upgrade software: features and bug fixes.
I assume there are more features in 2.6 than 2.21, but are they compelling enough to pour effort into making the switch? I wanted to use all those neat PHP goodies and put the database into MySQL, so I did it. But that might not be good enough for you. So, unless you can’t stand to be without the goodies, I’d leave it alone.
I also assume there’s bug fixes in there, but again, the first rule in software is “let sleeping babies lie.” (Of course, that’s not the first rule in software support, which is “I can’t help you unless you’re on the latest version.”) So, unless you’re having MT problems that are supposedly resolved in later versions, I’d leave it alone.
Plus, I am only partly kidding about 2.61 – I’m the goofball that tosses a point-oh version onto a live system. That doesn’t mean I advise others to do so.
Ooo cool! Maybe I should upgrade. Then again, I haven’t a clue how to do that, so for now I’ll just stare at it 😉

Don’t shoot me! I’m just the messenger. I’m waiting for 2.61…

Convinced yet? 🙂
I never get “0” releases, myself, if I can help it. Darth Microsoft taught me well . . .
Wait for 2.61 unless you don’t mind broken RSS or wanna know the hack Phil R. posted for me. 🙂
while upgrading sounds like fun, im terrified I will screw up my MT royally. Scared, scared, scared.
