The Management reserves the right to reprint any e-mails sent to Solonor’s Ink Well™ that place its owner in a favorable light. With that in mind, I present the following message from a penitent Geekman.

Ahem,

Due to a miscommunication betwixt my funnybone and my memory center I regretfully must ask forgiveness for my humor transgressions over the last day or so. Specifically, I am asking for you to be understanding for my belief that A Night At The Opera was funnier than Duck Soup. I know now the true error of my ways. After due consideration, and a quick smack upside my funnybone, I have come back to my senses and stand now firmly in your camp of Ducky Soupness and shall in the future proudly wave my Duck Soup flag for all the world to see.

As for The Big Store… let us never mention it again.

Sincerely,
The Forgetful Marxist

Hail Freedonia! Long live Marxism!

If there are still heathens among you who do not know of what we speak, I point you to the brilliant filmsite.org and their detailed page on the greatest Marx Brothers movie: Duck Soup.

Testing Meme Propagation In Blogspace: Add Your Blog!

This posting is a community experiment that tests how a meme, represented by this blog posting, spreads across blogspace, physical space and time. It will help to show how ideas travel across blogs in space and time and how blogs are connected. It may also help to show which blogs (and aggregation sites) are most influential in the propagation of memes. The dataset from this experiment will be public, and can be located via Google (or Technorati) by doing a search for the GUID for this meme (below).

Please join the test by adding your blog (see instructions, below) and inviting your friends to participate — the more the better. The data from this test will be public and open; others may use it to visualize and study the connectedness of blogspace and the propagation of memes across blogs.

I got a good mind to join a club and beat you over the head with it.

Well the ones who bothered trying to guess the pictures that make up Solonor’s Five Pillars of Wise-ass Movie Comedy™ were dangerously close. So much so that I believe we are all a hive mind bent on assimilating you. (Relax. We’ll be benevolent masters, really.)

The rest of you should be ashamed of yourselves. How do you expect to make something of your life, if you don’t participate in pointless guessing games on a strange person’s weblog?

Man who catch fly with chopstick accomplish anything. Wax on… wax off…

Geekman was close, but he has had a problem with numbers since that incident with an certain actor who I will not mention by name. You tell him “five” and he hears “eight or more”. (Damn you, Gary Coleman! Damn you to hell!)

BitterKat missed it by that much when she tried to be funny and put Citizen Kane on the list. Ha. Ha. Very funny. I didn’t say musical comedy, Kat! Good grief.

Mike almost hit it with his second guess. However, he has a bit of a handicap in that he doesn’t know from funny. He was cribbing off the other two. Left to his own devices, he would probably have listed the first five Police Academy movies in the hope that one of them would be right.

The pillars of wise-ass movie comedy are:

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Blazing Saddles
Young Frankenstein
Duck Soup
Airplane!

Other answers may be acceptable, but they would unfortunately be wrong. Thank you for playing. Come again.

The central message of Buddhism is not “every man for himself”.

Good grief! I came home, and Whiny was watching A Fish Called Wanda. It’s not one of the Top 5, but it’s in the Top 10.

The guesses have been very close on the Top 5. I’ll give you the next 5:

Life of Brian
The Princess Bride
Arsenic and Old Lace
A Fish Called Wanda
This is Spinal Tap

What in the wide, wide world of sports is a-goin’ on here?

I stumbled into yesterday’s movie when I turned on the TV. Coincidentally, today at lunch Sgt. Grump whips out his new DVD with the second pillar of movie comedy. If I didn’t believe in an all-loving deity before, I certainly would have cause now. Someone up there likes me.

No one has even attempted to guess the other 3 movies, and that makes me sad. But I take comfort in the words of the Waco Kid:

You’ve got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know… morons.

Don’t blame me. Mongo just pawn in game of life.

Four more years!

Why the hell am I up at 5:30 in the fricking A of M? Oh yeah. School starts today. It’s August 2nd fer crying out loud! Who’s bright idea was this?

Surely you can’t be serious?

There is nothing better for soothing a bruised inner child who just had a favorite player leave his baseball team (again) than a viewing of one of the movies that make up the five bedrocks of his lame sense of humor.

Jim Abrahams and David and Jerry Zucker, today you lifted my spirits in an orgy of bad puns and stupid sight gags. I thank you.

You obviously know of what movie I doth speak, so I’m not going to insult your intelligence by naming it. If you don’t know the other four, then I’ll give you a chance to guess. Then, surely, I’ll tell you.
