I was going to write my thoughts about the new Indiana Jones movie, but hearing that the great Harvey Korman died today, I think it’s best to leave it until tomorrow. Instead, remember Mr. Korman: one of the funniest, twisted straight men ever.
“I want you to round up every vicious criminal and gunslinger in the west. Take this down. I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers and Methodists.”
Oh dear! That sweet, wonderful man. He and Tim Conway were one of the last great comedy teams, in my opinion. I’ll miss him.
Losing Harvey Korman and Sidney Pollack in the same week is a devastating blow to TV and film fans everywhere. I am truly saddened.
I LOVE “Blazing Saddles” and I LOVE Harvey Korman. This has been a black week for comedy and film.
We are big fans of Blazing Saddles over here in the Flummel household and Harvey Korman is the movie. His is a big loss.
