Wednesday already??

Apparently, I exacerbated my hay fever or summer cold or whatever the hell on Saturday, because by Sunday morning, I felt like crap. So much so that the planned meeting of the minds on Sunday had to be cancelled. Bummer. I was looking forward to pre-baby pictures.

On the bright side, I did finally finish Harry Potter, and I really, really liked it. I thought it was a little slow to get going, but the last third of the book was non-stop action. Without spoiling anything, what I found amazing was that she managed to touch on, if not feature, every character (other than Moaning Myrtle). Most of them had a pretty significant role in the story, not just “Oh, look, there’s so-and-so.” Not only that, but she actually re-visited or at least mentioned every single place and most (if not all) of the magical creatures.

I kept thinking about how there has always been this “will they finish the movie series with the same actors?” buzz going on after each Potter movie is released, and all during the last half of the book, I tried to picture anyone turning down the chance to do this one. Fortunately, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint all settled down and earlier this year committed to stay to the bitter end. So, now, I’m just hoping that they don’t shortchange the last two films like they kinda did Order of the Phoenix. This last book, especially, deserves the full Lord of the Rings treatment.

We also went and saw The Bourne Ultimatum at some point. Very, very cool flick. I wouldn’t recommend seeing it without watching the first two (or at least Bourne Supremacy), but that’s about as great a trio of films as one could wish to see.

Stay inside in the A/C — the heat is ridiculous. Hope you feel better soon!

I didn’t like Order of the Phoenix as much as the others, either. Still don’t know why, though.

Glad to see you liked the Bourne flicks. I’m looking forward to seeing the new one, and I loved the first two.

I agree with you on the Potter stuff, too. I’m glad to hear that they got the main three signed for the rest of the films. I kinda expect that most everyone else will no doubt follow suit, as well. And yes, it does deserve the full LOTR treatment. A two-film package for the last book, in the least.

    I missed Moaning Myrtle, too.
