Honestly… is anyone else ready for this week to be over already? Yeah, me too!
I have about 400 hits from someone that MT is blocking….(GOD BLESS MY IT DEPARTMENT)! Really, does ANYONE actually read this spam and go to these sites?
Do you? Come on…. fess up! Are you the reason that someone wants ALL my readers to know how penial enhancements work?
I can understand why e-mail spam works, because of e-mail users who have no understanding of the internet, they click on the crap. But I have no concept of why blog readers, and blog authors would be a good target for comment spams. I think of that type to be a little more internet savvy than the standard e-mail user, but I guess they wouldn’t do it so much if it didn’t work.
It’s also a matter of search page ranking. The more links there are out there to their site, the better their site gets ranked. So all those out there without mt-blacklist or some other blacklisting program are helping spammers get the page ranking they are seeking.
I confess…. it’s not me!
What amuses me almost as much as stupid spam is checking my MT activity log to see just how many times a spammer is trying to hit me with the *same thing*. If it doesn’t work the first time, idiot, it isn’t going to work the tenth, either.
I think it has more to do with the page ranking that blogs get on google and the like. When spammers leave the url in the comments, it shows up high on search engines because of the popularity of the blogger.
Not explained perfectly, but close enough. 🙂
