OK, after all this time, does anyone know where the name Solonor’s Ink Well comes from? Anybody? Bueller?
What’s the matter pal? You can’t remember? They say the mind is the first thing to go.
Nope.
No, no, no. I know what it’s from. Do you?
No. Did Jeffy once mention it in a Family Circus cartoon?
well if you know then why don’t you tell us? huh? yeah its because you don’t know, and you’re hoping we’ll tell you so you will know. well it ain’t gonna happen pal.
Something from your childhood? I have this vague memory of an old game name or something?
This is sad, sad, sad. (OK, so maybe it is a little obscure… a LITTLE…)
Was it originally the name of your self-published ‘zine? Nickname for your office? Something naughty?
You took your alias and added Ink Well to it?
Kids called you Ink Well in school because you had great penmanship?
*shrug* I’m the worst co-stalker ever.
OK, so the co-stalker’s close with “You took your alias and added Ink Well to it?” I’ll give that half a point, because it’s the most plausible answer so far. Plausible, but WRONG!
Elven god of hunting, wasn’t it?
(ten pipers piping)
(nine… oh wait, that’s not it…)
Not the Solonor part! The “Ink Well” part!
It was the solonor part that was hanging me up. The inkwell part is easy. That’s what you dipped the ponytail of the girl in front of you into when the teacher wasn’t looking. (“Oh, look! I can do kanji!”)
The cultural relevancy is no problemo, as long as YOU ARE THAT OLD. The title to the post was a hint:
Get sick, get well
Hang around a ink well
Ring bell, hard to tell
If anything is goin’ to sell
Best regards,
Sollysychophant
Solonar Avarnoth… Elf?
If you play the latest hit by “The Furballs Under the Couch” backward, in the bridge it clearly says:
Name it Ink Well Solly Man
Name it Ink Well Solly Man
Come on, make it hard next time!
ok, i think i know this one. i think.
Solonor = Solonor Rasreth, your ultimate RPG (D&D?) character who was a half-elf and cohort of Ric the Ranger (or something like that? do i win a prize???)
Bless you, Brandelion. Being the “Ric” in that equation, and a cohort of the man behind the Solonor name for much longer than either of these alter ego’s have existed…. I’m embarrassed to not have been able to answer the question. Especially after seeing the answer….
(Striking head in Homer fashion) Doh!
