Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, It’s Off to the Trade Show

The NACS show is huge (about the size of 20 football fields). Even though it’s not out of town this year, it might as well be. I am going to be down at the convention center pretty much full time until next Wednesday. I’ll try to keep blogging and mailing when I get home in the wee hours, but don’t count on instant replies. Ta.

Love You To

BBC NEWS: Harrison tribute concert planned.

Fantastic! According to the article, Paul and Ringo are headlining the bill, with Clapton as the host. Monty Python alumni are going to perform, along with Tom Petty, Ravi Shankar and maybe, just maybe, Dylan. This is great news.

Opening Lines

I find that my great American novel is continually getting stuck behind a thousand other duties. I promised my wife a book by Thanksgiving…1987.

One of the biggest problems is that I come up with great opening lines. But that’s it. They stare up at me with expectant eyes, saying, “Well? Is that all?” And, sadly, it is.

Big Brother Is A Peeping Tom

No, you don’t have to worry about giving the Government more power. They’re just here to protect you, silly gooses! I mean, aren’t you all reassured and stuff just by the Homeland Security logo at the Patent Office? I am.

I really hope this is some sarcastic soul at work.

Anyway, permit me this bit of fatherly pride and check out my 12-year-old’s essay: Pepperkat’s Playground: Freedom!

Tag-Board is dead! Long live Tagboard!

My search for a self-hosted tag board has ended! I got rid of “Tag-Board” and installed “Tagboard” from Dan-Reedy.com. All is sweetness and light in Solonor-ville again.

Shakin’ All Over

I’ve been thinking about posting this for some time…ever since Domino sent me the CD, actually. You see, it’s a 20-year-old tape of Revolver (the garage band I was in, for you newbies).

Carnival of the Vanities

It is my honor to have one of my silly little rants included in Silflay Hraka’s Carnival of the Vanities, #2. I feel like Paulie Shore accepting his first Oscar–Who’da thunk it? And I’m outclassed by the company.

Tuck Everlasting

Went to a free preview of Tuck Everlasting this evening. It’s a splendid little movie, based on the equally splendid book by Natalie Babbitt. In it, Winnie (Alexis Bledel in her first credited role)–the sheltered daughter of a rich landowner–breaks free from her gilded cage, meets the Tuck family and learns their secret: they are immortal.

Warning: Spoilers ahead!
