Yes, You ARE a Good Mom!

In case I haven’t mentioned that I hate being on the road, I will state that here:

Being away from home sucks!

…unless, of course, your hormonal, teenage daughter picks that week to dye her hair purple–at the urging of her very cool mother–and it turns out a deep, dark, ugly red…and her mother has to scour the Internet for a cure, run out at 1am to get Prell shampoo, wash the offensive locks ten times, and still get up to go to work at 8am, leaving said daughter to face her peers at school (or risk her perfect attendance record). So, sometimes being on the road sucks less than at other times, I guess….

By the way, the hair has settled down to a very cute pinkish red with blonde highlights. She has received many compliments, and for those who don’t like it, she reserves unprintable scorn (something along the lines of “bite me” but cruder…) She gets 10 points for pluck…minus 5 for language…

Love Ta Love Ya, Courtney

I decided to take a peek at MTV2 24 Hours of Love this morning…more out of morbid curiousity than anything else. I am not the biggest fan of the woman. Most of the time I have seen her, she’s been staggering around trying to prove how big a bitch she is. (Note: I realize this is probably an unfair characterization, based on limited data. Bite me.)

Silly Me. “It’s Just A Mistake”

I saw this story unfold while I was out of town. It made my blood boil.

Sure, I’ve wanted to smack my two kids upside the head at times–especially when they were little, annoying snotheads with minds of their own (as opposed to BIG, annoying snotheads with minds of their own). Part of being a parent is taking those raw emotions, channeling them into something useful and teaching your children to do the same. Apparently, unlike Ms. Toogood, most people have a brain.

But, of course, society is to blame…or the media…or the cops…or her parents…or the kid…anybody but the slimey bitch who skulked around looking to make sure no one saw her before she launched into releasing her pent up anger over “nothing in particular” onto an innocent child.

Now For Your Enjoyment: Blasphemy!

While I was finishing up the Banned Books List, I came across this unbelievably sacrilegious (and wickedly funny) site:Landover Baptist: Where The Worthwhile Worship. Unsaved Unwelcome.

100 Banned Books (51-60)

Check out the rest of the list at https://solonor.com/bannedbooks.php.

51
TITLE: A Light in the Attic
AUTHOR: Shel Silverstein
ISBN: 0060256737
Plot Summary: A collection of humorous poems and drawings for kids.
Complaints: Violence, unsuited to age
Challenged at the Fruitland Park Elementary School library in Lake County, Fla. (1993) because the book “promotes disrespect, horror, and violence.” According to the publisher, it’s been challenged because it “encourages children to break dishes so they won’t have to dry them.”
Solonor Says Ban It Because: If I knew I could get away with that stuff, I wouldn’t be the fine upstanding citizen I am today! This will lead to devolution. And what’s up with that Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show anyway? Drugged-out hippies.

Iraq Attack II

Well, thanks to my inability to give up in an argument, I kept posting in the comments section of The Truth Laid Bear last night until I had made a complete nuisance of myself. The coolest thing about it, though, was that the argument didn’t collapse into “sez you” and “you suck.” Many thanks to Robin Goodfellow for that!

So, now, the Bear has opened up a separate TTLB Iraq Discussion Forum just to focus on the debate. If you have any rational thoughts about the impending Iraqi war (pro or con), head there and spew your guts out….but keep it civil.
