Update On El Sicko

It’s strep. Boy and monkey are resting comfortably.

The biggest deal was his dehydration. The IV took care of that, and the penicillin should knock out the rest. He’s probably going to sleep all day.

It’s amazing how fast these things sneak up on you. He was fine Saturday night. Sunday morning – WHAM!

According to his mother, he braved the whole blood-sucking, IV-pumping ordeal without a problem. (I have this thing about needles. I don’t go near them. I expect them not to come near me.) Whiny is about the least whiny kid I know, actually. He only got that nickname after I started this blog and thought “Whiny the Elder” sounded cute and witty. He liked it, too, so it stuck.

So, the “All Clear” can be sounded. Thanks to all who were worried. Everything is fine. Nothing more to be seen here. Please, move along. Ignore the fact that Pepperkat is headed to the doctor this morning… and that Mrs. Rasreth woke up with a sore throat…

Glad to hear there is penicillian in the mix. Our oldest had strep and it developed into mono. Make sure to get him checked in about 2 weeks for that. It will wipe you out.

    *HUGS* for strength!

The good news is that none of us got strep or mono from her. We don’t drink after anyone, that cuts it down TONS! We think she got it from a friend that she shared a drink with.

  2. Scott says:

Glad to hear he’s on the mend; let’s hope everyone else is a-okay…

  3. Maria says:

Thank God he is okay! I know how bad strep can be! My Niece had a temperature of 105 when she was 5, and was dehydrated on top of it! Scared the holy crap out of me!! {{{Sol}}} Rest your Dad nerves today dude! I know you are relieved! 🙂

  4. Hey Lisa says:

I’m glad to hear he’s doing well. Sounds like it’s a round of Penicillin for everyone if you’re passing strep around. Ick. No fun.

  5. ah, man…give my love to Whiny. i’m hoping the rest of the fam remains healthy or at least gets through it alright.

  6. Zuly says:

Glad that he’s got the penicillin and that boy and monkey are both OK. Or as OK as they can be. 🙂

  7. Kevin says:

The boy was that ill and he still thumped me at baseball! Sheesh! At least he can cope with needles, the shame would’ve been too much if he couldn’t cope with needles too 🙂

Glad to hear he’s doing better.

  8. dragonleg says:

I think Zuly pretty much hit the nail on the head.

  9. Ric The Schmuck says:

I’m glad he’s OK. Or at least going to be, soon. He’ll be back in black soon enough. I expect he’s had enough of scrubs-blue by now….

  10. batgrl says:

Yes, heavy meds for everyone! Not good to spread the strep around!

    But glad all is well.
And I know what you mean about needles. Ack.

  11. Melissa says:

Glad to hear your kiddo (and the monkey!) are okay. 😉

  12. Kim says:

I’m a little slow on the uptake, but I’m glad to hear Whiny is doing well. Strep throat sucks.

  13. Sunidesus says:

Sounds like Penicillin cocktails all around the Solonor household.

    Glad it’s nothing too serious!
