What day is this?

Weeeee’re baaaaack.

Arrived back at Chez Norton at 2am. Of course, the first thing the kids and I do is run to the computers. To our horror, we found that we had no Internet access! Aieeee!

I called the cable company this morning, and they said they couldn’t get a tech out to look at it before tomorrow evening. But through the power of prayer (or Pepperkat’s nuclear goat powers), the cable modem miraculously connected this afternoon. Huzzah!

I have a bazillion stories to tell from the vacation, and (literally) 650 photos to upload. I just thought I’d take a second to thank my guest bloggers for their smashing job keeping my Blogrolling pinger hopping. You are the bestest.

Ah… okay…..

Apparently I was completely WRONG on my timeframe for guest blogging. I have to admit, I didn’t read the fine print in the contract I signed with Solonor. Maybe I signed on for life, I’m really not sure. (Doesn’t that scare ya to death!)

So what are we gonna review today? Let’s talk parenting…. After all, Solonor is a parent, and I’m a parent… and well, I’m feeling OVERWHELMED with the whole context of parenting…. so let’s review it.

Let’s start with boy children….. I have one of those. He’s the easiest thing in my life. If you take away the fact that he’s dyslexic and I’ve spent the last three years fighting the school corp over that fact. Oh, and we can’t forget that he’s tiny for his age, (nearly nine and 40lbs) thus requiring many many medical treatments/facilities. Well, don’t forget that by nature, he has this unexplainable fasination of bringing live animals INSIDE my house… but yeah, he’s easy.

Next, let’s review girl children….. I have one of those too. She’s a pain in the ass, like all girl children can be. Well, except when she crawls into my bed at 5:30am and snuggles up to me and says “I just missed you, Mommy.” Oh, and then there are the times she’s thrilling around the room in her “pretty dresses” asking if she will EVER be as pretty as me. And we can’t forget when she comes over with the Pledge and dust rag in hand and ASKS to clean the house… but yeah, she’s a pain in the ass.

What about your children? Easy or a pain?

Wild Party….

IT’S FRIDAY! I mean seriously… FRIDAY………

I live for FRIDAY… two full days of no work, no people coming in talking to me about minor details that they want to make into MAJOR problems….

How much better can it get? well, I guess, it could be 5pm on FRIDAY!

One Year Later, And He’s Still Not Dead

Since we’ve safely passed my birthday, Solly’s birthday, and Jim’s birthday, it is only fitting that we recognize the birthday of Walter, Revolvers maniacal guitar player. I’ll admit there hasn’t been a Walter sighting recently, so I can’t personally confirm that he’s not dead, but I’m sure he’s lurking around, waiting to spread his evil influence.

Happy Birthday, Walter!

No matter what your politics are, or your view of our current war, you gotta appreciate this.

I Freaking Love Canada

Just to add to Dana’s previous post…..my comment might have seemed like a blow-off or something, but Canada rocks. Really. Everyone’s so nice. It’s not like here in the States.

Oh, and they have Don Cherry. I totally disagree with his politics, but Don rules.

That is all. This is most likely my final post here and I apologize for not having anything of interest to share this week. I am a bad guest blogger.

Ode To Canada

Canada, oh Canada….

I know NOTHING about Canada. You’d think that since it is just hours over my head, I might actually know something about it. I don’t!

As a child, my father drove us up through Michigan across towards “the falls” and then home again through the US. I remember a WHOLE LOT of driving. And for a long time, we looked for mailboxes… we couldn’t find mailboxes on the streets. (Go figure, my family is so exciting!)

As an adult, when I lived in the western NY area, we would drive over to get Canadian Bacon…. which, by the way, is really HAM. We’d take all the visiting friends and neighbors to the Falls.

When I was pregnant with Garrett, we went to Montreal. I was rather pukey and remember a lot of walking, seeing great restaurants, and puking… lots of puking. IT was, however, beautiful there.

So, tell me…. what is the “real” Canada like? Anyone know?

Weather: were we scheduled to talk about the weather?

Anyway, regarding weather, we Brits have been hoist on our own petards, if that’s the appropriate expression.

We always talk about the weather. For the last 250 years (this is as far as I remember back) we have talked about the weather. It is our default conversational setting.

Now that we are having the onset of anomalous weather (and very non-British it is), we realise we had nothing at all to complain about since it really used to be rather pleasant – a mild maritime climate with nothing too extreme and with spring, summer, autumn (your famous ‘fall’) and winter all in more or less the right places.

Now we cross a street and the weather executes an extreme change before we get there. Who can we blame, huh?

I have just spent the day in a conference room where the air conditioning was set to ‘max. cool’ and the weather outside was set to ‘cold and wet’.

I leave you with a quote from Ms Shirley Conran: ‘There is no bad weather there is only the wrong clothes’. Aha, but what about indoors?
