Sweep. Swept. Swuppt.

Yes, I know it’s only April. We’ve blown up the Death Star, but we still have to face that whole Empire Strikes Back thing before we get to dance with the Ewoks in October. Still, this weekend’s events have me smiling. If for no other reason than THIS.

(Note to my wife: I’m only looking at the Red Sox cap. Honest.)

Geekman vs. Cableman

Well that sucked.

I spent all fricking day working on a song, only to find out that I’m having one of those “bad voice” days. That’s when it doesn’t matter what I try to sing, I can’t stand the sound of my own voice. It’s worse since I got the condenser mic, because every tiny mistake is amplified.

Oh well. I’ll take comfort in good food and friends tonight. The Blogless One™ and I are meeting Kat, Geekman, Cableman and his wife (who is not only blogless but decidedly un-geeky) for dinner and maybe some Bad Ass.

Oh, and I did write a robot song for Kat.

Yeah, I’ve had days like that

“It hurt the way your tongue hurts after you accidentally staple it to the wall.”

Or maybe this one…

“She had a deep, throaty, genuine laugh, like that sound a dog makes just before it throws up.”

This is Red Sox 5, I’m going in!

OK, I was gonna play nice. I was gonna just be cool. I wasn’t gonna throw rocks in the glass house (since we’re both behind fricking Baltimore at this point). But war is declared and battle come down.

I think the Yankee Information Minister says it best.

Take me down to Paragon City…

This is bad.

How bad?

Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.

OK, so maybe not that bad, but the last thing I need is this kind of time-sucking temptation.

I’ve messed around with online role-playing games since back in the dial-up BBS days (“In my day, we had 1200 baud, and we liked it! We loved it!”). And I’ve looked at a few of the MMORPG’s, but I’ve never been too excited about the standard medieval fantasy type games. I’ve been waiting for a really good classic Star Trek RPG or a superhero one. Freedom Force is a great superhero game, but the next step is to interact with live humans immersed in a virtual reality.

City of Heroes comes out of beta and goes live next Wednesday. And it looks awesome.

There is an excellent review of the game at WorthPlaying. However, the thing that got my attention was the series of posts Sherri has made. She’s talking about withdrawal symptoms because they’ve turned off the beta for 2 days prior to the launch!

Their boots is made for walkin’

Last year, Kim fought ovarian cancer and won. This year, she and her no-longer chubby hubby, Scott, are raising funds in the Revlon Run/Walk For Women on May 1.

Being the un-biased sort that I am, I give you both their donation links. That way, you can pledge for HIM or for HER.

(Pssst! C’mon guys. She’s winning the fundraising race. Do we want one of our own beaten by a girl??)

Wake Me Up Before You Go Go

It’s “Bring Your Kid to Work Day” and my daughter was terrified at the thought of sitting in my office and reading all day. So, she went to work with V… who works in a book store… so she could sit and read all day…

Yes, I know that’s not the purpose of BYK2W, but she did come with me last year. In fact, both of my kids have followed me around for a day, and they’ve both declared that I have the most boring job on the planet. Go me.

Be Gone Unclean Devil Bunny!

I am forced to agree with Xade. You can never go wrong when you re-enact The Exorcist in 30 seconds with bunnies.
