If we can’t use the power that we have to rally around a desperate friend, then what the hell are we doing wasting our time with this crap?
Get your asses (and wallets) over and Help Kat.

At last it can be told. This war was not about oil. It was not about Iraqi freedom or regime change. It wasn’t even about revenge for the hit squads on Dubyah’s daddy. This war was about the Stargate: The Secret Race to Control Iraq’s Extraterrestrial Heritage.
We are making great strides in finding those weapons of mass destruction that were supposed to be all over the place and ready to fire within 45 minutes of an attack.
Just look at what we’ve found so far!
The gang’s had a few too many chocolate Easter bunnies, so they have to work out…

Hope you’re having a good one. Ours is filled with all manner of churchy goodness.
We went to the early service at Forest Lake Seventh Day Adventist Church this morning to see our friends in the choir. It was a beautiful service with a brass ensemble and full choir. A little sad, though. Since we left our old church when our choir director was mistreated and quit, we had no Easter cantata to practise for this year. Our new church choir is nice, but we’re not “family” with them like we were with the old one. Anyway, we saw our old choir director and our other friends, and it was good.
Tomorrow, we sing at the early service for our new church (7:30am, ick) and at the 11am service.
Easter’s a little sad now since the kids are too old to do the pagan bunny-and-egg ritual. Plus, Venita’s mother died on Easter weekend. I know I’m supposed to be focusing on resurrection and new life, but I’d honestly rather sit here and wallow in computer baseball stats all weekend.
One good thing: Lent is freaking over tomorrow.
Pepperkat decided to give up ice cream for Lent… more as a test of her willpower than for any religious significance. She’s been incredibly persistent (if somewhat whiny). So, tomorrow, we’re going out immediately after lunch and dive into buckets of ice cream.
Sundaes on Easter Sunday!

Why is it that every move Tom Ridge makes sounds so incredibly dumb? The appointment of Nuala O’Connor Kelly to be the Department of Homeland Security’s privacy official may make political sense. She may even be the most qualified for the job. But why would an Administration that has been so under fire for potential threats to privacy (TIPS, TIA, Genisys, HumanID, CAPPS, etc.) name as its first privacy gatekeeper an ex-Doubleclick official? Didn’t these guys at least take Marketing 101? It may not be wrong, but it sure doesn’t look right.
Yes, I know she has not been with the evil ad-bot agency for over a year. Yes, I know her whole job there was to enforce privacy. But when you’re setting up an agency that will potentially have access to all their personal details, do you think people are going to trust someone from a company that has been sued by everyone under the sun for using collected data to profile and track customers?
Well, at least she’ll be no stranger to the world of Big Brother. I’m just waiting for the Homeland Security pop-up ads to start appearing on everyone’s site by law.
I have come to realize that while I know a lot of you from my extensive wanderings about the blogiverse, not everyone in my blogroll knows everyone else. I kinda suspected that when I met GeekMan, and he went “Who? What? Who’s that?” a lot when I talked about other bloggers. It was confirmed when branalamadingdong said she’d met a “new” friend in GeekGrrl. Inconceivable! So, I’m going to quit looking for new blogs until I Aortalize the old ones.
This week, I bring you my morning pick-me-up: :: Dayzed And Confuzed :: Online journal of the damned ::!
If you are ever having a day when you need someone to give you a big hug and then jump up and down and make funny faces for you until you laugh (and I’m not around), then visit Maria.
If you are ever having a day when you think you’ll throttle the next damn person with a jumping smiley and blissfully happy attitude on their blog… get over yourself and visit Maria anyway.
Our computer baseball league is using the latest version of .400 Software Studios’ Out-of-the-Park (v5), but Grump found that they will give you version 2 of OOTP for free at .400 Software Studios – Download Center (scroll down to the “Free Stuff” section).
OOTPB2 includes the ability to import players from the Sean Lahman Baseball Archive database, which contains complete batting and pitching statistics from 1871-2002. I used the database back in 1995 or 1996 to help create import files for Nick Keren’s Ultimate Utilities for Old Time Baseball. Ah memories…
Bill’s servin’ up a hot, tasty Carnival of the Vanities #30. Mmmm… Carnival….
