In last week’s post about Dear Aunt Nettie, I mentioned the Museum of Depressionist Art. However, I didn’t give it or its sister site – The Gladys Dwindlebimmers Ralston Gallery of the Unidentifiable – the space they deserve.
Well, knowing that my core audience consists of folks either too busy watching wife-swapping shows or building bunkers to leisurely peruse the sites, I’ve taken the liberty of highlighting some of my favorites.
Don’t thank me. Just throw money.
President Kang, President Muffley, President Brady???
Yes, they’re all here. Everything you ever wanted to know about the Fictional American presidents.
God bless Fake America!
I just downloaded the new Flogging Molly album from iTunes. Wheeeee!
My review of the third album from this most awesome band is at Blogcritics.
I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself next year. It has become an annual tradition to salivate with anticipation over what goodies will be put into the latest Lord of the Rings DVD. This year’s entry appears to top them all with 50 minutes of extra footage, including a lot of stuff that will answer some questions left from the finale of the trilogy. If you want to be surprised, then don’t go to TheOneRing.net for a list of added scenes.

The Brent Woodall Foundation for Exceptional Children
Tracy Woodall lost her husband, Brent, in the attack on the World Trade Center in September 2001. Not long before that, they had discussed launching a foundation to help families of children with autism. After 9/11, Tracy made that dream a reality by creating the The Brent Woodall Foundation for Exceptional Children.
The Woodall Foundation is this month’s highlighted charity for Strengthen the Good. Details on how you can help (either financially or as a volunteer) can be found here.
Tracy Woodall understood that a sound response to evil is to strengthen that which is good. – STG Net

After 25 years, the rest of the story will be told.
If all you ever knew about The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy came from the original BBC radio broadcasts, then you would have missed 3/5 of the story. The first part was broadcast in 1978 in seven episodes (six in March/April, plus a Christmas special), and the second was done in January 1980. Later, they were turned into the books The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. However, the last three books in the series (Life, The Universe And Everything, So Long And Thanks For All The Fish and Mostly Harmless) were not the written versions of the BBC adventures. They were never made into radio plays.
Until now…
Starting on September 21 The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – The New Series with most of the original cast will be broadcast every Tuesday at 6:30pm GMT BST (that’s 2:30pm 1:30pm for us U.S. East Coasters), with a repeat on Thursdays at 11pm. Each episode will be available online for 7 days after the Thursday rebroadcast. So, if you miss them, don’t panic!
Got the following e-mail on hurricane preparedness today:
Any day now, you could turn on the TV and see a weather person pointing to some radar blob out in the Atlantic Ocean and making two basic meteorological points:
(1) There is no need to panic.
(2) We could all be killed.
Yes, hurricane season is an exciting time to be in Florida. If you’re new to the area, you’re probably wondering what you need to do to prepare for the possibility that we’ll get hit by “the big one.” Based on our experiences, we recommend that you follow this simple three-step hurricane preparedness plan.
Robyn sent me this yesterday. After getting it e-mailed to me by my boss today, I feel it is my duty to post it: Hurricane Ivan’s Projected Path
Turns out Sgt. Grump is going to outlive us all…
