Since We’re Talking About Marvel Super Hero’s…

The fellow who runs this place made a statement, not that long ago, that SpiderMan 2 was The.Best.Comicbook.Movie.Ever. Or some such.

I don’t know as I want to argue that point with him. (Actually, I don’t want to argue much with him, ‘cuz he always wins arguments. With me anyway.)

OK, Crisis Over. Back To What You Were Doing

I spoke with Solonor around 9PM tonite. They got their power back this afternoon, so things are going well for them. They won’t get their cable back until mid-week, so that means no internet. Which means y’all are stuck with me for the interim. Unless he has ‘net access at work, assuming he get’s to go to work. More on that as the week progresses…

(By the way, the Cheez-its held out for the duration)

All’s Well In The Land Of the Rasreth’s

I knew there was a reason that Solly didn’t change all the locks to the place! Hurricanes! See how all-powerful our Solonor is, foretelling of the need for someone to have access to “the blog” whilst he was in a power outage…

Yeah.

Anyway, I just got off the phone with our fearful leader, and all is well there.

Charley looks worse on TV than in real life

To hear the TV news crews, we’re all under 40 feet of water and expecting more. But Charley’s weakening, and hopefully by the time it gets here in another couple of hours, it should be a little less of a threat. We haven’t seen much of anything around here. I think it had enough fun ripping up the poor people in Port Charlotte and Fort Myers.

I’m going to go try to watch the Olympics. If the power goes out or anything, I’ll blog about it by candlelight. Deal?

Ok, that’s matching my tastes a little too close…

I swear Yahoo Launchcast is spying on me. Every time I get on to IM, it starts playing music with a title that fits the conversation.

Every. Time.

Right now it’s playing “Goodbye Blue Sky” by Pink Floyd.

Yikes.

Charley is a big meanie… and getting bigger…

This is a test of the emergency blogging system. If this were an actual emergency, this message would be followed by screams of panic, high wind noises, rain, thunder and lightning and death..Kat

The latest projection from the National Hurricane Center could bring Hurricane Charley closer to Orlando.

OK, OK, so I went out and got like water and peanut butter and stuff. Happy now?

Still, Kat and Robyn, et al. (Hi, Al!!) aren’t heading for the hills, so I’m not worried.

Storm Preparations

Wanna know how Chez Norton prepares itself for a hurricane?

Well, since we both had to work yesterday (and today I might add), neither one of us had much chance to get to the store. When the Mrs finally did get around to going out for basic necessities (you know… Pop Tarts), there were none to be found. So, she bought ice cream instead.

When we looked in the cupboard, we found precious little food – even though Whiny said he’d still be able to eat the ramen noodles if the power were out (mmm… crunchay…) So, last night we went to our neighborhood Chinese restaurant, specifically for the leftovers.

And since the kids have no school today, and all the stuff we were scheduled to do there tomorrow was cancelled (senior pictures… laptop distribution…), Whiny is preparing an RPG session for the four of us for Saturday.

Batteries? Um…
Bottled water? Er…
Canned food? Couple a cans of Spaghetti O’s?
Candles? Check.
Pretzels and Chex Mix? Check.
Dice, paper and pencils? Check.

Yep. We’re ready. Bring it on, Charley!

Seriously… be safe all you people on the west coast (Kat, Dragonleg, Kathy, Lewis…) Same goes for all you Central Floridians, too!

God loves irony

“Sarasota County Hurricane/Flood Preparedness Expo originally scheduled for Saturday is postponed until Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Robarts Arena.” – Sarasota Herald Tribune: Closings: Sarasota County

George Bush is Sauron!

There’s a storm a-brewing.

No, not Charley. I’ve accepted Michele’s invitation to become a contributor over at The Command Post.

How could I resist? She wanted me to be their Tolkien-literal contributor! Cool, non? (I think she meant “Tolkien-literate” not “Tolkien-literal,” but those Bush supporters have a problem with grammar sometimes.)

Excuse me. I have to go beat up a little old lady for the last gallon of bottled water at Publix.

UPDATE: Token liberal?? Argh! What have I done?
