OK, sing with me now! “There’s no mission like Monday Mission, like no mission I know… everything about it is appealing… everything the censors will allow…”
According to Red Hat, there’s a security flaw in their Linux kernel. But, thanks to the RIAA and their draconian DMCA, you can’t see how it’s fixed.
The problem is that the technical details of the fix are on a European website (http://www.thefreeworld.net/), and they don’t want to open themselves up to lawsuits by showing this stuff to Americans. So, when you click on the link for reference information at Red Hat’s solution page, you see THIS.
So much for open source…
The Register USA has some more info on the death of the eCard industry (aka, spammers). Only this time it’s the lamewad eCard company that’s doing it to itself!
[ Thanks again, Grump. ]

Tim Hall: Visionary or Secret Spammer? (Just kidding, Tim.)
It is an awful coincidence (repeat AWFUL) that right after Tim made the comment “Sooner or later, some bottom-feeding slimeball will work out a way of spamming Moveable Type comments…” on my entry about spam in referrer logs that we hear from PromoGuy that someone has done just that!
Die, spammers, die!!
Welcome to FASOFT Homepage – Audio Software for Windows
Another update to my favorite PC recording software. This one adds a spectrum analyzer & tuner in EQ properties window and a listing of the MIDI synth’s own program names for tracks sent to VST instruments that support it.
I give up. Friendly communications are slowly being brought to a standstill by greedy, ignorant advertisers and moronic, immature hackers. You can’t phone someone and wish them well…because we’ve got to monitor incoming calls against telemarketers. You can’t send a greeting card, apparently. And your e-mail alternative installs a porn worm! Argh!! I’m going to lie down. I’ll be at the back of the cave, if you need me.
[ Thanks, dragonleg, for the heads up. ]
Well, it’s been a while, but I finally got back to putting up another Oscar Do-Over poll. Go to Solonor’s Oscar Do-Overs 1953 and vote for your favorite. Then, check out all the others and tell me what you think.
Well, I’ve finally gone and done it. Since I created this web site back in March, I have been meaning to put an About Me page on it. It’s a lot more difficult than you might think…
In the first place, even though one of the points of the blog is to spew forth the daily drool of my pitiful life for the amusement of the general public, I am a bit wary of giving out too much information. I realize that this is not the only place for a scumbunny to grab my name, birthdate and other pertinent info, but do I really want to put up a sign that says: “ALL CROOKS WELCOME. GET YOUR FREE IDENTITY HERE!”
Also, I’m not sure I have much of an identity outside blogdom. “Hi, I’m Lester. I’m a 40-year-old geek with nothing better to do than to type stuff (and junk) about his life into a computer. Oh, yeah, and I use my D&D name of ‘Solonor’.” *shudder*
So, instead of all that, I’ll just embarrass my family, friends and co-workers! Ain’t that zippy? I hope you enjoy it, and somewhere in there you will find actual biographical information about me.
Study hard. There will be a test.
