Romani ite domum!

This evening, Mrs. Rasreth was asking me what I want for Christmas. I foolishly replied before I saw what they were auctioning off at Christie’s. For between 4 and 6 thousand dollars, I could have a Posted in Carnival of the Vanities, Wouldya Lookit That! | 6 Comments

It’s 72 Degrees in My Head

Ah, lazy Saturday after Thanksgiving. Everyone’s gone, leaving me here to mend Pepperkat’s virus-laden PC. Her hard drive is currently dangling from my PC’s naked and exposed guts, while I copy her collection of every fricking anime, amv and mp3 on the planet onto my hard disk before I fdisk hers.

Kids! Can’t live with ’em. Can’t get a decent price for ’em on eBay.

Meanwhile, I just finished putting the old carcass in for a soak. No, it’s not time for my yearly bath. I meant the turkey carcass. Mmmm… turkey carcass…

It’s one of those annual traditions. Toss what’s left of the old bird into a pot of boiling water with a quartered onion, a couple of stalks of celery, a few baby carrots and an omg-I-lost-count number of garlic cloves. Mmmm… garlic cloves… And in a couple of hours I get to pick all the meat off the bones (yuck). But, oh, the end result will be soup delicioso!

It’s been a very good vacation–other than that stupid NaNoWriMo promise I made, broke, re-made, and broke again. I’m just not cut out to be a novelist, I guess. Is there a market for professional wise-ass? *sigh*

But all-in-all I’m feeling very relaxed. All is right with the world. Either that or the Gleeminex has kicked in…

Hope you all are enjoying your Happy Pie!

Relax and Have Fun!

Happy Thanksgiving, y’all.

We just got a Thanksgiving card from my wondermous sister-in-law (yes, I said “Thanksgiving card”… we’re lucky to get out Christmas cards, and she’s sending fricking Thanksgiving cards!). The saying on the front was so perfect, I had to share it with those of you suffering holiday madness (not that I know of any).

Remember: STRESSED spelled backwards is DESSERTS!

Canned Spam for the Holidays

As usual with things too good to be true, Ed Foster’s Gripelog points out that the Anti-Spam Bill being rammed through Congress is not the savior of Internet e-mail after all. Instead, it’s a way for direct marketers to override much stricter laws that have been passed by the states (especially California’s).

Rather than have consumers “opt-in” and sign up for any messages for Viagra they want to receive, the Federal law relies on “opt-out”. In other words, to stop getting unsolicited e-mail, you have to provide the spammer with your e-mail address–confirming it as valid for them.

Merry Christmas, Spammers!

Die, Spammers, Die: Part 72

It’s not bad enough that they use your comments to spam you and your readers, now the little weasels have a way that “mail this entry” can be used for spam.

Hellboy

I forgot to mention that there was a trailer for HELLBOY in front of “The Missing” last night. It looks pretty good. Hard to tell from that snippet, but at least the SFX look cool.
