Idiotarian In Da House

The latest political wave to hit blogdom is the Anti-Idiotarian Manifesto. I am really tired right now, so anything I say from now on carries its usual stigma of incoherent rambling in triplicate. Here’s my 2-cents, and let’s just let it go at that, please. Thanks.

Palin’s Travels

Since his first trip around the world in 1988, Michael Palin has been zipping (or in most cases fighting his way upstream) across the globe. The best part is that he usually takes us along with him. Now, he’s opened Palin’s Travels as a central place to see all of it.

It’s got an incredibly cool set of searches that let you look up every mode of transportation he’s used–from aluminum dinghies to zodiac landing craft–every place he’s stayed, historical sites and facts, and tons more.

Kindred Spirits

I love free stuff.

As you know, most of my record reviewing comes from forays to the local Borders, where I sip on a vanilla latte and sample the albums. It sounds sad at first, but I’d rather spend my money on computer toys.

Oh, ok, it is sad. I’m cheap. But who could find anything wrong with listening to free samples of music before you decide to spend your hard-earned cash on the CD? I should propose this to the RIAA as a great way to improve CD sales! They could let you download songs for free and then…um….never mind.

Anyway, back to the free stuff.

This week my well-connected and generous wife got me a promo copy of one of the Johnny Cash tribute albums that’s floating around–Kindred Spirits / A Tribute to the Songs of Johnny Cash.

Revolver Fan Club – NEWS

RESURFACING OF INFAMOUS PICTURE GIVES REBIRTH TO RUMORS
BANGOR, Maine, Oct. 16, 2002 (AP) – The infamous “Walter is dead” picture has resurfaced, bringing a resurgence in rumors surrounding the band. The picture, which can be seen on the band’s website, shows Revolver on a typical Maine fishermen’s dock. Jamie, wearing dark mourning glasses, has grave digger gloves on. Walter, who is backward, is dressed in black and is barefoot (this is out of frame). Bruce, also wearing dark glasses, is dressed as a pallbearer. Lester is dressed as a preacher* and is overseeing the “funeral” scene. Just out of frame is a Volkswagen with a license plate that has the numbers “22” in it, which is how old Walter would be if he were alive when the picture was taken.

Smeggin’ Good News

Great news Lister, Rimmer, Cat and Kryten fans! The Jupiter Mining Corporation’s famous lost ship is alive and well. The latest news is on the chapter selection and bonus material for the first Red Dwarf DVD. Series I is due out on November 4th. Add to that the fact that Red Dwarf – The Movie is in preproduction, and my little holographic heart is running hot as one of Cat’s suits.

Though I hate the you-can’t-link-this-’cause-it’s-flash website, go to Red Dwarf for more details.

Update: I guess I have to read these things more carefully. Sgt. Grump points out that Series I is due out on November 4th in the UK and Australia, with II set for the following February. America will get both series in February. Wah.

A Barrel Full of Monkeys

There’s been a proliferation of monkeys in both blogspace and meatspace, recently. For example, Whiny the Elder thinks it is the funniest word in the English language…inserting it into conversation at the most inappropriate moments.

She’s Being Too Nice To Him

Cranky Chick: Falwell’s Pie Hole

Dear Rev. Falwell,

Please shut your pie hole. You are causing unrest and loss of life when you open it. You are Satan in an unattractive physical form; apparently, Ricky Martin’s body doesn’t stand still long enough to allow possession. The only people who listen to you are religious zealots and stupid people. But I repeat myself…

On behalf of intelligent, tolerant people, and people who are good for the sake of good without the guarantee of eternal life, I beg of you… follow your true calling into used car sales where you can no longer be of detriment to our planet.

Tess
