That’s the Christmas Eve spirit!

I know that a great number of you will be rushing around trying to finish those last few things that will make this the “Best. Christmas Ever.” And I am sure that you will meet your fair share of pissy people.

Here is a little link that Grump sent me that I think best captures the true spirit of Christmas Eve Day. (Don’t miss the Top 10!)

The sad thing is, I spent at least 45 minutes perusing those pictures. Oh well. At least now when God asks me how best to represent what I did with my time on Earth, I’ll have an easy answer.

(Don’t worry. I’ll think of something better before the Eve is done.)

Echo…echo…echo…

OK, if you creepy stalkers were waiting for me to be alone before jumping out of the darkness to scare me, now’s yer chance. I’m all by myself here at work (well, except for Sgt. Grump and the Not-So-Red Menace, but they’re no help).

Time to crank the holiday tunes! Thanks, Kevin!

I feel like I’ve been blogging for a hundred years, but this is actually only the third Christmas for the Ink Well. Since I got all sappily spirited the last two Christmas Eves (The Bloggers Night Before Christmas and The Christmas Secret), I suppose I should come up with something equally saccharine and/or dripping with links to my favorite bloggers, tomorrow night.

Maybe I’ll just buy you all a six pack.

First Annual Groovy Grove Awards

The votes are in! It’s time to announce the winners of the First Annual Solonor’s Groovy Grove of Mystical Wonders Awards for Excellence in Blogging™

I must say that the competition in every category was extremely close. And while we are presenting these awards to certain individuals based on an extremely complex formula stolen donated by NASA scientists (whom we do not have tied up in the back bedroom), there are no winners and losers. I congratulate all of those who didn’t make the cut and just weren’t good enough to get an award. Good job and better luck next year.

Also, please disregard the previous post. The outcome of the voting is purely coincidental.

Best. Awards. Ever.

Finally! Someone has had the intestinal fortitude… the chutzpah… the backbone… the (dare I say it?) genius to come up with a blogger award scheme that cuts to the true meaning of awardliness: Money.

That’s right, all you wannabe award hosts with your “Bloggies” and your “Best of’s” and your “Most Creative Use of Photoshop Not Involving Porn (Much),” the one-and-only Mighty Geek has beaten you at your little game.

While other awards shows have you sitting on your hands, tears slowly trickling down your face as you use every ounce of self-control to stop yourself from nominating your blog because no one else did (bastards), the Mighty Geek not only wants you to nominate yourself, he demands it. In fact, the only way you have a shot at his The Mighty Geek: Award Reward is to put yourself out there for it.

What’s the catch? There is no catch!

Besides the $25 award and the title of “Biggest Loser Willing to Grovel at the Feet of Geekman for $25,” there’s the pride in knowing that you won, dammit!

In your face, “Best Blog Promoting World Peace”!

Take that, “Bloggie for Artistic Achievement by a Gay/Lesbian Transvestite from Uganda”!

All you have to do is stop by and read the rules of The Mighty Geek: Award Reward and come up with an appropriately grovely award to present to The Mighty Geek, and you could be $25 richer and walk with the kind of swagger formerly reserved for American Idol runners-up!

Baby, it’s cold outside

Yes, yes, I know you think you’re all cold with your “below zeroes” and your “wind chills,” but for once think about me! I’m sitting here in Florida – FLORIDA – and the temperature is down into the 30’s – the 30’s! This is just not right. You’re in Maine and New York and Minnesota and Canada and those other Communist states because you like that kinda stuff.

Meanwhile, I used my superior intellect to go someplace where you don’t have to worry about your nose hairs freezing together, possibly suffocating you when all you wanted to do was run to the store to buy a case of beer. I’m supposed to be deciding between which pair of swimming trunks to wear during the Christmas Eve pool party!! (I really like the ones with Rudolph, but the nose placement is a bit, um, well…maybe if I drink enough “egg nog”…)

So, while I really am concerned about how your fingers are turning blue when you try to light a match to your last copy of Playboy in order to huddle around its glowing embers, I’ve got my own winter disaster here. I need to buy a sweater, dammit!!

It Lives! And it brings Christmas cheer

Still feeling kinda oogie, but you don’t come here to find out about my health (except, of course, for that stalker who’s got the life insurance policy out on me). You come here to see if I’ve got any holiday goodness to share with you.

And you’re in luck, my friend! Presented for your Christmassy pleasure, here is an mp3 ripped straight from the plastic of a holiday CD by the Crooms Academy of Information Technology’s own steel drum band, The Steel Monkeys.

This is their first foray beyond the steel drum and into other percussion instruments. It’s a rendition of “Carol of the Bells” done with drums, keyboard percussion and, of course, bells. If you’ve got a really good ear, you can tell the difference between marimba, vibraphone and xylophone, and, thus, you will be able to hear Whiny’s part on the vibraphone.

Solly no function beer well without

Ugh. In case anyone has been looking for me, I left work early yesterday and until this moment have been curled up in the fetal position on the couch under a pile of blankets and cats.

I feel semi-human now, but I have no idea what that was all about. Chills, fever, dizziness, headache… I swear that’s the last time I play around with this crowd.

Marty Robbins Rulez

Just thought I’d share.

I’m a stah, baby… day job quitting coming soon!

Lemme tell ya, it’s freaky seeing yourself on the cover of a CD case, even if it is a caricature. Yes, the cover art for my CD arrived in the mail, yesterday. Not only that, but branilicious and satan included a CD of tuneage with it for my listening enjoyment (to which I am listening and enjoyment-having at this very moment). Merry Christmas to me!

If you want one of these CD thingies, you need to send me your address. I am kinda freaked out by the number of requests I’ve gotten for it already. I never knew how many masochists read my blog!

Football: Week 15

Did you know it’s only 62 days until pitchers and catchers report to spring training? Ah, soon this football nonsense will be but a distant memory. Anyway, here are this week’s picks for you to scoff at. If I were the competitive sort, I would point out that I am a game ahead of Geeky in the Yahoo fantasy football pool. But I’m not, so I won’t.
