The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Sylvan Cove as the Fellowship Series stretched to the final game.
It was the Numenor Kings feeling the thrill of victory, with a 2-1 win over the Minas Morgul Slayers, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the Two Towers Series.
“There’s no way around it — this sucks,” said Minas Morgul manager Mimosa Willow. “Congratulations to Numenor, but I won’t sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight.”
Instrumental in the 4-3 series win was third baseman Krutrush Trollthrottler, who was named MVP. He hit .409 with a .481 on-base percentage. He had 4 home runs, drove in 7 RBI and scored 7 runs.
“We’ve got the most important stat of all and that’s this final win — that’s the one that matters,” he said.
The Numenor Kings will play against the Dol Guldur Dragons in the next round. Dol Guldur won their series against the Lothlorien Lumberjacks 4 games to 3. The Two Towers Series schedule will be announced after the Fellowship Series finishes.
