Wedlund Wins MC Honor

Caradoc Wedlund demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the Mordor Conference Player of the Week Award.

The Weathertop first baseman wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .421 average (8-for-19) with 5 home runs and 6 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.

So far this season, Wedlund has recorded a .276 batting average with 94 hits, 16 home runs, 68 RBIs, 54 runs scored and a .346 OBP.

SC’s Top Player Named

When it came to hitting the baseball, Thuror Elril-Gara was in a class by himself in the Shire Conference this past week. Nobody did it better.

The outstanding first baseman for Minas Tirith tagged opposing pitchers for a .391 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 9 hits in 23 at-bats, 4 homers, 7 runs scored and 10 RBIs.

This year, Elril-Gara has hit at a .279 clip with 60 RBIs, 17 home runs and 44 runs scored.

Weathertop Left Fielder Hurt

“It was a freak thing,” said a dejected Myrthor Briarbosk after injuring himself in a game against Dol Guldur. The Weathertop manager told reporters that he’s expected to miss up to 5-6 weeks with back spasms. The Witch Kings are expected to announce a roster move in the next day or two.

This season, Briarbosk is hitting at a .252 pace with 23 home runs, 59 RBIs and has scored 50 times.

Steale Red-Hot, MC Player of the Week

Rumzug Steale is respected by most Numenor Kings fans for his no-frills style of play. The 21-year-old right fielder went about his business with vigor last week to grab the Mordor Conference Player of the Week honors.

He compiled a .391 average (9-for-23) with 3 home runs, 11 RBIs and 5 runs scored.

This season, Steale is swinging the bat at a .247 rate with 99 hits in 401 at-bats. To date he has hit 22 home runs, scored 63 runs and driven in 66.

SC Votes Sylvan Marblerage Top Player

It’s always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what she’s got. Eglantine Marblerage, the Mirkwood Sylvan 24-year-old right fielder, put herself in the spotlight last week making her the clear-cut choice for Shire Conference Player of the Week honors.

She ripped 11 hits in 22 at-bats, compiling a .500 average with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs.

In 86 games this season, Marblerage is batting .339 with 116 hits and 7 home runs. She has scored 45 runs and driven in 52.

MC Pitcher of the Month Goes to Mack

It was a productive month of July for Dagorlad reliever Fredegar Mack. He put up some impressive figures with 9 saves in 10 save opportunities — figures so impressive that the Mordor Conference chose him as its Pitcher of the Month.

During the month, the Disaster bullpen specialist chalked up 2 wins and no losses while compiling a 2.61 ERA. In 10.1 innings Fredegar Mack yielded 8 base hits, struck out 1 and walked 4. Opposing batters hit .216 against him.

To this point in the year Mack has put up a 4-1 won-lost mark, made 41 relief appearances and rung up 25 saves. He has a 2.14 ERA and has allowed 31 hits over his 42 innings of work, struck out 53 batters and walked 15.

Bree Starter July’s Best Pitcher

Marçal Ivatt hated to see July turn to August.
And who could blame him?
The 27-year-old hurler piled up 4 wins and 1 loss for the Cheese last month and won the Shire Conference Pitcher of the Month award for his efforts.

Ivatt stymied opposing batters on 31 base hits and a .217 batting average. He rang up 41 strikeouts in 39 innings of work, surrendered 8 walks and fashioned a sparkling 2.08 ERA.

For the year, Ivatt has compiled a 8-8 record with a 3.16 ERA.

*Engwyn Crowned Batter of the Month in July

Elluin *Engwyn received the Mordor Conference Batter of the Month trophy earlier today for his efforts at the plate this last month.

“He might be getting older,” Lothlorien’s manager told reporters, “But he’s been around long enough to know what it takes to put a stretch such as this together… and he doesn’t keep that to himself. He’s always talking to the younger guys in the clubhouse helping ’em any way they’ll let him. Elluin’s value to our team goes farther than the numbers he puts up on the field.”

To win the honor *Engwyn put up a .367 batting average, 9 home runs, 28 RBIs and scored 18 times in July.

For the season, *Engwyn is hitting .343, batted in 81 runs with 30 home runs and 73 runs scored.
