Elvythien Fires No-Hitter Against Bucklebury

Sunday, August 2nd , 2048
The no-hitter is one of baseball’s truly egalitarian achievements. It’s done by the great and the not-so-great alike, and for nearly all of them it represents the pinnacle of a career. Carrock Bears pitcher Leojym Elvythien had his moment today at Old League Park, holding the Bucklebury Fairies hitless and beating them, 3-0.

“Everything was working for him,” Fairies manager Palin Cavernbreaker said. “He had a lot of late movement that seemed to cause the guys trouble, especially from the fifth inning on. He was in command.”

Elvythien rung up 6 strikeouts, issued no walks and faced only 16 hitters in his historic outing. After the game, he spoke to BNN reporters in the Carrock locker room.

“I really got nervous in the last inning,” Elvythien recalled. “I knew I had a chance at a no-hitter but it was hard to stay calm and concentrate. Thank goodness for my catcher. He told me he would do all the thinking and I could just concentrate on hitting his glove.”

To date this season, Elvythien has a record of 10 wins and 5 losses and a 3.18 ERA. He has appeared in 23 games and struck out 73 in 104.2 innings.
