It was a day of mixed emotions for Rivendell second baseman Giacomino Argyll, who collected his 2000th hit in the club’s 4-2 loss to Mirkwood. Royals and Sylvan fans alike cheered Argyll as he reached base after his milestone hit.
“I wish the score had been different,” Argyll said after the game, “but it was a great moment. The standing ovation was really special… even the fans wearing Sylvan caps were cheering me.”
Argyll was 1-for-4 on the day.
In his career, Argyll is batting .310 with a total of 22 home runs.
