For Ignatie Nyambek, it was a red-letter day. The Misty Mountain Hops shortstop slapped his 2000th career hit. That his team defeated the Numenor Kings, 2-1, made it even sweeter.
His manager paid tribute to Nyambek after the game: “I’ve followed Ignatie since he came into the league,” he said. “Fine ballplayer. Fine work ethic. I’m not surprised by what he’s achieved.”
