Dogwood Gets Call From Hall

Wednesday, July 20th , 2050
On a bright, windy afternoon, Pansy Dogwood, the superb third baseman, stood outside the doors to the Tolkien Baseball Hall of Fame. He collected his thoughts and tried to contain his emotions before entering the shrine to baseball’s greatest players.

Dogwood later disclosed some of his thoughts to reporters at the press conference. “To be numbered among these great players,” he said, “some of them my idols growing up… that’s almost too much to fit my mind around.”

Nevertheless, this outstanding performer stepped through those doors to claim his place among baseball’s immortals. His induction into the Hall of Fame, which took place yesterday, surprised nobody. He collected votes from 0.0% of the writers.

Pansy Dogwood was 42 when he retired from baseball. In 2220 career games he compiled a .263 batting average with 2162 hits, 374 home runs, 1233 RBIs and 1152 runs scored.
