He may not do it as often as in his glory days, but Laweye Canchola showed that he can still put on a show.
The 36-year-old Dagorlad right fielder blasted the Dunharrow Devils pitching staff in Game 5 of the Two Towers Series at Dagorlad Memorial Stadium, helping the Disaster gain some ground in their chase for a Return of the King Series berth. Canchola was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 as the Disaster took the 6-5 win. With it, Dagorlad cut the Devils lead to 2-3 in the best-of-7 series.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Canchola hit a fastball from Hatay Norcross for a solo home run. The Disaster, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
“This wasn’t a good win,” said Canchola. “It was a great win.”
Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday at Dunharrow Field.
