Shire Conference Picks Top Player

In the twilight of his career, 40-year-old Ferdinand *Puttifoot of Bywater recaptured some of the old magic last week and came away with the Shire Conference Player of the Week Award.

“I’ve been playing since I was a kid,” *Puttifoot told reporters, “but you’re never too old to feel the thrill of success.”

*Puttifoot outpaced the rest of the league’s hitters last week, reeling off 9 hits in 17 at-bats, 2 home runs, and 8 RBIs to stake his claim to the award.

*Puttifoot currently has a .323 batting average with 20 hits, 4 homers, 11 RBIs, 10 runs scored and a .403 OBP.
