Wyrms Crowned Kings of the Shire Conference Dwarf Division

Winning the Shire Conference Dwarf Division is a “major milestone” for the Minas Ithil Wyrms, but according to their closer, it’s only a small part of the master plan.

“Win the division, get to the Return of the King Series, win the Return of the King Series,” said Dubpug Malona. “That’s what we’ve talked about doing since day one here. We’re 1 for 1 so far, so that’s a good start.”

It is the 11th time in franchise history that Minas Ithil has won the Shire Conference Dwarf Division. If the team does in fact go “3 for 3” in accomplishing the team goals, it would be the 7th Return of the King Series in team history.

500 Home Runs for *Hubbard, Jr.

Minas Tirith defeated Old Forest today 9-8 and took some of the joy out of Alrond *Hubbard, Jr.’s 500th career home run.

“I just wanted to get a good swing on the ball all day,” *Hubbard, Jr. said. “And I did.”

Despite the loss, it was a good game for the 29-year-old Merry Fellows designated hitter. He had 3 hits, scored 3 runs and had 4 runs batted in.

The Titans manager said, “You could see he was aggressive up there. The worst thing we did was throw him a strike. It probably would have been better if we threw the ball outside of the strike zone every time he came to the plate because he seemed like he was in a hurry to get it over with.”

His lifetime stats show that *Hubbard, Jr. has hit .314 and connected for 502 home runs.

Alrond *Hubbard, Jr. Wallops 3 Homers for Merry Fellows

It was a terrific day for Alrond *Hubbard, Jr., who ripped three home runs at Elrod Stadium at Finrod Field, and a disappointing one for the Old Forest Merry Fellows who, nevertheless, dropped the game, 9-8, to the Minas Tirith Titans.

“He was instant offense,” Old Forest skipper Tom Bombadil said. “Alrond really put on a show. He more than did his part. We just didn’t come through with hits at the right time to win the game.”

For the day, *Hubbard, Jr. collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, scored 3 runs and had 4 RBIs.

In the postgame press conference he told the reporters he has always liked to hit at Elrod Stadium at Finrod Field.

“I got some good pitches to hit and turned on them real good,” he said.

Alrond *Hubbard, Jr. struck out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Matta Greenthumb in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Matta Greenthumb in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Andy Holgate in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.

This year, *Hubbard, Jr. has batted at a .302 pace with 176 hits, 36 home runs, 83 RBIs and scored 114 times.

Lothlorien Wins Mordor Conference Goblin Division Crown

The Lothlorien Lumberjacks are champions of the Mordor Conference Goblin Division.

“We want to bring a championship to Lothlorien, that’s all this is about,” said second baseman Elluin *Engwyn. “It’s going to take a lot more hard work, but we’ve got the squad to do it.”

The club currently sits unable to be caught in the division with a record of 93-65. It is their 20th division crown and puts the club in position to win its 2nd Return of the King Series.

Erebor Clinches Postseason Appearance

An “enormous burden” has been lifted off the shoulders of the Erebor Eagles, according to their closer.

“We’re in the playoffs now, for sure, and that’s all that matters,” said Gavin Hardbottle.

Erebor currently has a record of 86-70.

Dagorlad Off to the Postseason

A sense of relief and excitement washed over the Dagorlad Disaster tonight as the club celebrated a playoff clinch.

“It’s a good feeling to know you’re going to be in the playoffs,” said starting pitcher Hyeon-cheong Alejadre. “Now we can concentrate on gearing ourselves towards winning a championship.”

A Return of the King Series win would be the 2nd in team history.

Mordor Conference Names Top Player

When it came to hitting the baseball, Caradoc Wedlund was in a class by himself in the Mordor Conference this past week. Nobody did it better.

The outstanding right fielder for Weathertop tagged opposing pitchers for a .455 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 10 hits in 22 at-bats, 3 homers, 6 runs scored and 6 RBIs.

At the moment, Wedlund is batting .290 with 25 home runs and 96 RBIs. He has played in 141 games and scored 75 times.

Braingobber Selected Top Performer in SC

Not every ball that came off Ghubbuh Braingobber’s bat last week was a line drive or a towering shot — it just seemed that way to the teams that played the Erebor Eagles. For his exploits, Braingobber was named this week’s Shire Conference Player of the Week award.

The Erebor left fielder put up 7 hits in 16 at-bats and 3 home runs while hitting .438 with 7 RBIs and 4 runs scored.

Braingobber is batting .248 this season in 46 games with 10 home runs, 25 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He has 39 hits in 157 at-bats.
