Royals and Argyll Come to Terms

Giacomino Argyll inked a deal that will keep the seasoned veteran on the Royals roster another 3 years. Earlier today team personnel announced that the 37-year-old had settled on a $6,500,000-a-year deal to play at Royals Stadium.

It’s no secret Argyll is getting older, but he could still contribute a lot to the franchise.

So far this season, Argyll has gotten 61 hits in 245 at-bats for a .249 batting average with 4 home runs. His stats include 27 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has played in 71 games.

3-HR Day for Hilldweller

Gorhendad Hilldweller was sending souvenirs to the sun gods all game long in the 5-3 Grey Havens Stars triumph at Orthanc Stadium.

The 21-year-old put on a show for fans, launching not one, not two, but three home runs into the stands and powering the Stars past the Isengard Raiders.

“One homer’s good, two’s great, three’s out of sight,” Hilldweller told BNN reporters after the game. “I can’t wait until next game. I really feel good at the plate.”

The center fielder went 3-for-4, rung up 3 RBIs and scored 3 runs on his record-setting day.

Gorhendad Hilldweller hit a solo-shot off Bugzag Kidneycrusher in the 1st, was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Cheyrth Elorfimbor in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Rimbo Sertori in the 10th.

This season, Hilldweller is batting .214 with 13 home runs.

Barrage of Hits Gets Maxim MC Award

One of the league’s most exciting young players, Thugmag Maxim of the Misty Mountain Hops earned himself Mordor Conference Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week’s games.

For the week the 24-year-old center fielder had a lofty .609 average (14-for-23), collecting 4 home runs, 8 RBIs and 7 runs scored.

In his season totals Maxim has 26 home runs and a .272 batting average.

SC’s Best Player Named

Old Forest sports fans can’t stop singing the praises of Alrond *Hubbard, Jr., who has been selected the Shire Conference Player of the Week.

*Hubbard, Jr. was in a comfort zone all week, finishing with a .600 average (15-for-25), 7 RBIs and 3 home runs.

So far this season, *Hubbard, Jr. is batting .302 with 30 home runs.

Year Ends for Pippo McCrudden in Numenor

Pippo McCrudden has to call it a season. The Numenor Kings starting pitcher sustained a season-ending injury against the Dol Guldur Dragons and will not play again this year according to club doctors. McCrudden was injured while throwing a pitch. His doctors diagnosed it as a torn labrum and stated that he would not be able to play for 4-5 months.

Thus far this season, McCrudden has tossed 164 innings in 29 starts, fanned 197 batters, walked 43 and put up a 2.74 ERA with 10 wins and 4 losses.

*the Masher was in a comfort zone all week, finishing with a .375 average (9-for-24), 8 RBIs and 6 home runs.

This season, *the Masher is batting .358 with 163 hits, 38 home runs, 89 RBIs, 77 walks, .455 OBP and has scored 93 runs. He has played in 125 games.

This Week’s Star Player is Green

Erebor fans have something to crow about today as Erebor first baseman Gweaman Green nabbed the Shire Conference Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days.

“I know there are times when it’s hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he’s too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally,” said Green.

He posted a .419 average (13-for-31) this past week with 4 home runs, 9 RBIs, and 5 runs scored.

This year, Green is batting .295 with 18 home runs.

Stonefart Takes MC #1 Pitcher Trophy

The Mordor Conference Pitcher of the Month honor has been given to Vevei Stonefart of Weathertop for a superlative month.

“I actually never wanted to be a pitcher,” Stonefart told reporters when asked who he credits for his pitching ability. “I was an outfielder until high school and on the third day of tryouts my coach came up and said, ‘Son you couldn’t hit a lick even if we put it on a tee for ya.’ Well, that ticked me off, so I decided if I couldn’t hit I wanted to make sure no one else could either and so here I am.”

It all turned out for the best as the Weathertop starter notched a 5-0 record with a 1.79 ERA last month. He made 6 starts and struck out 43 in 40.1 innings.

To date this season, Stonefart sports a 12-1 mark with a 2.17 ERA in 11 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .173 batting average and has 125 strikeouts in 112 innings.
