Dragons Clip Bears, 3-2, in Extra Innings

Nieven Stryjski pitched well, but the Carrock Bears lost anyway, falling, 3-2, in extra innings to the Dol Guldur Dragons at Dol Guldur Stadium. With the win, Dol Guldur tied the best-of-7 Return of the King Series at 1 games apiece. Stryjski was effective, giving the Bears 7 innings and allowing 1 run.

Batting in the bottom of the 11th, former first round draft pick Bruggug Footthrower had a real shot to win the game. Carrock pitcher Christina Jusefsson was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Footthrower hit a run-scoring single. The Dragons had a walk-off triumph.

Dol Guldur manager Vrsong the Drooler commended his team for exhibiting “no shortage of effort.”

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at Old League Park.

Dol Guldur Advances to Return of the King Series

Sunday, October 27th , 2052
Tolkien Baseball fans were certainly not disappointed with this Mordor Conference Two Towers Series.

The two teams were evenly matched and the series went to the final game, with the Dol Guldur Dragons prevailing over the Dagorlad Disaster to advance to the Return of the King Series.

Dol Guldur won the final game by a score of 9-3 at Dol Guldur Stadium and that sealed the series 4-3.

“Things were tense in our clubhouse and dugout before and during this game, but we can let loose a bit now — the hard work is over, for now,” said second baseman PolĂbio the Seer, who earned MVP honors.

For the series, the Seer hit .360 with a .484 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, 2 RBI and scored 5 runs.

The Dol Guldur Dragons will play against the Carrock Bears in the next round. Carrock won their series against the Rivendell Royals 4 games to 1. The Return of the King Series schedule will be announced after the Two Towers Series finishes.

Disaster Clip Dragons, 2-1, in Game 6

The Dagorlad Disaster and the Dol Guldur Dragons will take the Two Towers Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation, the Disaster beat the Dragons, 2-1, at Dol Guldur Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Dagorlad right-hander Dratsnuk Demoneater had a big role in the win. He threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball.

Dagorlad won the game in part because of Andwise Holeman. The third baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Disaster ahead, 2-0. For the game, Holeman had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

“We’re happy,” Demoneater told reporters after the win. “When you’re in the playoffs, you’ve got to treat every game like it could be your last.”

Dragons Hammered by Galbey, Drop Game 5 to Disaster

Bears Heading to Return of the King Series

Wednesday, October 23rd , 2052
All playoffs end with joy on one side and despair on the other. Today, the Carrock Bears are the ones feeling overwhelmed with excitement, and the Rivendell Royals are the ones thinking about what they could have done differently.

The Bears took a 8-1 victory at Royals Stadium today, which gave Carrock a 4-1 series win.

With the win, Carrock will advance to play in the Return of the King Series.

“We aren’t ready to go home yet,” said Bears shortstop Flambard Cervandas, who was named series MVP.

The Carrock Bears don’t know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Dagorlad Disaster – Dol Guldur Dragons series. Dol Guldur leads the series 3 games to 1. The Return of the King Series schedule will be announced after the Two Towers Series finishes.

Dagorlad Breaks Through for First Win in Two Towers Series; Now Trails 3-1

If the Dol Guldur Dragons were expecting the pressure of the playoffs to get to Irene Black, they underestimated the veteran.

The Dagorlad Disaster got a strong start from the 38-year-old left-hander. Black threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball as Dagorlad won the contest, 6-3, at Dagorlad Memorial Stadium to close their gap with the series-leading Dragons. Dol Guldur now holds a 1-3 lead in the best-of-7 series.

An inflection point occurred with no one out in the bottom of the second. That’s when Disaster catcher Smiahir Manthrottler hit a changeup from Kesil Czempa for a 2-run double. Just like that, Dagorlad was up, 3-2.

“We’re one game closer to our goal,” Dagorlad manager Ghudkuh Ogreprodder said later. “It isn’t any more complicated than that.”

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Thursday, October 24th , 2052.

“We’ll take some time to unwind,” said of the Lake, “and then get after the next one.”

Rivendell Breaks Through for First Win in Two Towers Series; Now Trails 2-1

The Rivendell Royals have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Carrock Bears, winning, 3-2, at Royals Stadium. Royals left-hander Oltina Bellas threw 6.2 innings allowing 2 runs. The win cuts the deficit facing the Royals to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Two Towers Series.

Had Malgath Elriden not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Elriden hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Royals.

“Oltina did a nice job,” said Royals manager Golloron Nerith.
