the Drooler of Dol Guldur Named MC Best Skipper

Dol Guldur manager Vrsong the Drooler caused quite a stir when he came to town. Noted for his feisty, no-nonsense attitude, the Drooler threw his all into the 2051 campaign, winning over critics and fans as he went. He also won a few ballgames, running up a 90-72 record, which was good enough to take the first place spot in the Mordor Conference Orc Division standings.

“These guys are grown men. They don’t need psychobabble, they need to win ballgames,” the Drooler snapped at his first press conference. While his approach was controversial, even for Dol Guldur, it netted the 59-year-old the Mordor Conference Manager of the Year trophy. In response to which he replied, “It ain’t molecular physics, it’s baseball,” and began discussing potential free agents with the local media.

SC Manager of the Year Award Given to Eladriendel

Tigia Eladriendel, skipper of the Carrock Bears, was voted 2051 Shire Conference Manager of the Year and accepted the award earlier today.

She guided Carrock to first place in the Shire Conference Hobbit Division with a 86-76 record.

“I’m very happy about this,” she said at the press conference. “But I’m more happy about what my boys did on the field. They battled their butts off for me all year. They should get the credit.”

Proudneck Re-Signs with Bounders

The latest news from the BNN reporters following the Bywater Bounders is that an agreement has been reached with Flambard Proudneck to continue as their closer for another 3 years.

Over his career Proudneck has a record of 44-65 with a 3.13 ERA. He has appeared in 541 games, thrown 604.1 innings, and struck out 685 while saving 308 games.

Gildor *Inglorion Named SC MVP

Though Gildor *Inglorion is usually in the running for MVP and has won a ton of Gandalf Pitcher awards over his career, he has only won it once before, in 2040. This year, the Riuvendell hurler earned his 2nd Aragorn MVP Award with a 21-6 record and a 2.12 ERA, both leading the Shire Conference.

He won yet another Gandalf Pitcher Award earlier based on his record and ERA, plus his Conference-leading innings pitched (267.2), strikeouts (247), WHIP (0.90), HR/9 (0.2), BB/9 (1.3, and WAR (11.1).

Ugak *the Masher Wins 5th Straight MVP

For the 5th season in a row, Ugak *the Masher has won the Mordor Conference Aragorn MVP Award. This is the 6th MVP award for the Dead Marshes second baseman.

Ugak hit .384 with 40 HR and 124 RBI, leading the MC in average, RBI, Hits (214), Runs Scored (125), Slugging (.703), OBP (.471) and WAR (11.1). He earlier won the Sam Gamgee Batter award and was given a Gimli’s Axe award as the best hitter at 2B.

Riso Gets Award for Relief Work

Tulg Riso was a calming influence out of the Grey Havens Stars bullpen this season.

His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 26-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the Mordor Conference Gwaihir Reliever Award for 2051.

The Annuminas, Human Lands native won the award with 20 saves in 66 relief appearances, 62 strikeouts in 70.2 innings and a record of 5-4 to go with his 2.17 ERA.

Borigal Bracegirdle of the Lothlorien Lumberjacks finished second in voting, while Armenak Grubb of the Minas Morgul Slayers finished third.

MC Presents Outstanding Pitcher Award

The Minas Morgul Slayers have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It’s Vaervenshalice Thornravenys, this year’s Mordor Conference Gandalf Pitcher Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.

Thornravenys compiled a 20-5 record in 32 starts, tallied 120 strikeouts in 198 innings and recorded a 1.77 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .209 batting average against her.

Snuknogh Bugsmasher of the Minas Morgul Slayers finished second in voting, while Perian Aispro of the Lothlorien Lumberjacks finished third.

Dead Marshes’s Ugak *the Masher put the wraps on a fine campaign today by winning the 2051 Mordor Conference Sam Gamgee Batter.

The 26-year-old veteran scorched the opposition with a .384 average, picking up 214 hits, 46 doubles, 6 triples, 40 home runs and 124 RBIs, while scoring 125 runs.

Elluin *Engwyn of the Lothlorien Lumberjacks finished second in voting, while Xandra *Thornflower of the Minas Morgul Slayers finished third.

Baecker Grabs SC Gwaihir Reliever Award

Pandora Baecker said she thinks hitters often underestimate her, as she’s only 24 years old.

But she’ll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Old Forest Merry Fellows rising star has won the Shire Conference Gwaihir Reliever Award for 2051.

She captured the award on the strength of his 2.13 ERA over 143.1 innings. She also had 7 saves in 86 relief appearances, 244 strikeouts and only 76 walks.

Filibert Brockhouse of the Bucklebury Fairies finished second in voting, while Gavin Hardbottle of the Erebor Eagles finished third.
