SGCBL Headline News: Draft Pool Revealed

The deadline has passed for players to declare for the first-year player draft. Tolkien Baseball officials have released a list to all teams with players who can be chosen on draft day. Teams now have a chance to scout the draft pool for 30 days before the draft is held.

The Transactions page of the BNN site has been updated to provide everyone a glimpse at the youngsters hoping to become the next baseball legends.

The early favorites to be high picks are the following:
1. Fay Mack, 20 year-old 2B out of college.
2. Tomiji Eyelover, 22 year-old RHP out of college.
3. Dina Tunnelly, 19 year-old 3B out of college.
4. Ajeder Eowarandil, 21 year-old LHP out of college.
5. Ivósaar Gwildur, 21 year-old 1B out of college.
6. Dadrin Transson, 18 year-old 3B out of high-school.
7. Bofur Willow, 20 year-old 1B out of college.
8. Sadik Skjolden, 20 year-old 2B out of college.
9. Argak Schute, 19 year-old SS out of college.
10. Quastarte Kirmani, 19 year-old RHP out of college.

The official OSA Mock Draft will be released on the day of the draft,

Big Bang! 3 HR for Dead Marshes’ *the Masher

It was a day for the record books for Dead Marshes Uruk-hai shortstop Ugak *the Masher, who walloped three out of Uruk-hai Field against the Hops. However, not even a three-homer game could prevent the Hops from getting the 9-7 victory.

“We threw some good pitches and they hit ’em, and we made some bad pitches and they hit ’em. That’s a good strategy for losing ballgames,” Dead Marshes skipper Mikee the German joked after the loss.

*the Masher still had a few opportunities to celebrate along the way. He was 3-for-5 for the day, batting in 5 runs and scoring 3 times.

“I never, ever thought I would hit three home runs,” *the Masher said. “I hit three home runs once when I was 12 in Little League and I thought that was going to be the last time.”

Ugak *the Masher grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Chae-ku Ogura in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Chae-ku Ogura in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Skorbosh Earthcrawler in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th.

*the Masher is hitting .346 for the season with 10 home runs, 22 RBIs and 29 runs scored. He has 47 hits in 136 at-bats and played in 37 games.

Dogwood Swats 3 Homers

Today was a special one for Banazir Dogwood of the Misty Mountain Hops as he slammed three home runs in the 9-7 Hops win over the Dead Marshes Uruk-hai.

“Lately, I’ve been uppercutting the ball too much,” he said to sportswriters after the game. “I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark. No big long outs for me in this game. I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot. I knew they were gone the minute I hit ’em.”

The Misty Mountain center fielder collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in 4, and scored 3 runs in the contest at Uruk-hai Field.

Banazir Dogwood hit a solo-shot off Pervinca Woodenguard in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Igbub Eyeslobberer in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Dromzug the Atrocious in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.

This year, Dogwood has collected a .366 batting average to date with 52 hits in 142 at-bats, 30 RBIs, 8 home runs and scored 27 times. He has played in 38 games.

Nobody in the Mordor Conference had a better week than Elluin *Engwyn… Noooo-body! That’s why he was voted the Player of the Week.

During the week the Lothlorien second baseman compiled a .600 batting average (12-for-20) with 4 home runs, 7 RBI and scored 5 runs.

At the moment, *Engwyn is hitting .348 with 13 home runs and 34 RBIs. He has played in 34 games and scored 30 times.

Sylvan Dejahlla Nightmeadow Wins SC Award

It’s always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what she’s got. Dejahlla Nightmeadow, the Mirkwood Sylvan 22-year-old shortstop, put herself in the spotlight last week making her the clear-cut choice for Shire Conference Player of the Week honors.

She ripped 12 hits in 25 at-bats, compiling a .480 average with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs.

This year, Nightmeadow is batting .299 with 43 hits, 8 home runs, 22 RBIs, 17 walks, .368 OBP and has scored 22 runs.

Titans, Biggins-Bunce Blank Erebor, 9-0

It was a quiet day for the Erebor Eagles at Elrod Stadium at Finrod Field — a little too quiet. Minas Tirith Titans starter Grossman Biggins-Bunce silenced the Eagles, holding them to 1 hit and keeping them scoreless in a complete-game 9-0 win.

“It was frustrating against Biggins-Bunce today,” Erebor manager Lumja Grelf said.

The Minas Tirith starting pitcher walked 2 and allowed 1 hit while fanning 10.

To date this season, Biggins-Bunce sports a 5-2 mark with a 2.20 ERA in 7 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .170 batting average and has 31 strikeouts in 45 innings.

SC Honors Rivendell Catcher

His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Malgath Elriden was rewarded with the Shire Conference Player of the Week honors.

The scrappy Rivendell Royals catcher hit .643 while collecting 9 hits in 14 at-bats, 1 home run and 4 RBIs.

This season in 21 games, Elriden has hit at a .293 clip with 22 hits, 1 home run, 12 RBIs and 9 runs scored.
