It’s party time in Carrock. The confetti is flying and residents are smiling.
The Carrock Bears have reached the mountaintop, capturing the 2051 Return of the King Series today. They defeated the Numenor Kings 7-2 at Old League Park to officially wrap up the series 4-3.
Asked how it feels to be a champion, second baseman Z. Beryl of the Lake was to the point.
“It feels great, like a million bucks. I’m so happy right now, not just for me but for all the guys,” he said. “We put a lot of work into this and deserve to be champions.”
The team is planning a victory parade and fan appreciation day later in the week. Carrock finished the regular season 86-76 and claimed first place in the Shire Conference Hobbit Division.
When the games really matter, the Numenor Kings put on their best show, beating the Carrock Bears by a final score of 6-5. Krutrush Trollthrottler went 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Numenor now leads Carrock 3-2 in the best-of-7 affair.
Overcoming a bravura effort from opposing starter Pippo McCrudden, the Carrock Bears slipped past the Numenor Kings by the score of 3-1 and got their first win in the 2051 Return of the King Series. McCrudden threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the Bears. The win narrows Carrock’s deficit to 2-1.
Leave it to the veteran.
