The baseball must have looked as big as a balloon to Krutrush Trollthrottler of Numenor last week. The third baseman had quite a 6-game stretch and today he was named the Mordor Conference Player of the Week.
Trollthrottler delivered 12 hits in 23 at-bats to hit .522 with 1 home run and 6 RBIs.
For the year, Trollthrottler has hit at a .298 clip with 41 RBIs, 7 home runs and 30 runs scored.

Largo the Dapper has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 21-year-old left fielder of the Erebor Eagles had a hot bat in the Shire Conference over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors.

This year, the Dapper is batting .312 with 43 hits and 8 home runs. He has scored 24 times and has batted in 32 runs.

Numenor Kings starter Robur Hardbottle really did a number on the Weathertop Witch Kings, shutting them out, 7-0, on 1 hit in a complete game victory. He issued no walks and had 11 strikeouts.
“We didn’t have good at-bats,” said Weathertop manager Lamli Goldsplitter. “I don’t make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn’t show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting and seeing as our team has a bunch of good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Hardbottle.”
This year, Hardbottle has registered 7 wins and 3 losses in 14 starts with a 2.85 ERA while registering 92 strikeouts and 33 walks in 88.1 innings.

The Carrock Bears were dealt a severe blow when Suzg Holzer was hurt throwing a pitch recently in a game against the Minas Ithil Wyrms. After the game, the team trainer reported Holzer might have to spend a lengthy time on the injured list. Today doctors confirmed it, ruling the 25-year-old closer out for the rest of the season with a torn labrum. They indicated it would take Holzer at least 9 months to heal.
His season stats show Holzer has 21 saves in 32 relief appearances with a 2-0 mark and 0.74 ERA.

In the twilight of his career, 35-year-old Rapu Vale of Dunharrow recaptured some of the old magic last week and came away with the Mordor Conference Player of the Week Award.
“I’ve been playing since I was a kid,” Vale told reporters, “but you’re never too old to feel the thrill of success.”
Vale outpaced the rest of the league’s hitters last week, reeling off 11 hits in 22 at-bats, 2 home runs, and 8 RBIs to stake his claim to the award.
Currently Vale has 3 home runs and a .301 batting average.

Gugnar Gnollgobber is respected by most Mirkwood Sylvan fans for his no-frills style of play. The 32-year-old second baseman went about his business with vigor last week to grab the Shire Conference Player of the Week honors.
He compiled a .455 average (10-for-22) with 1 home run, 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
For the season, Gnollgobber has produced 68 hits in 212 at-bats for a .321 average with 2 home runs and gotten on base at a .394 clip.

Success in close games can separate the good teams from the great teams, and a great bullpen specialist is a big part of that success.
Ogguk Derrokicker of the Misty Mountain Hops today solidified his position as one of the great relievers in the game by recording the 300th save of his career against the Minas Tirith Titans.
Derrokicker reached the milestone in closing out the 4-3 Hops win at Gap of Rohan Park. The 34-year-old hurler worked 1 innings and gave up 2 runs and 2 hits in his historic save.
During his career, Derrokicker has 300 saves with a 49-72 record and a 3.23 ERA.
