The Numenor Kings got a critical win in the first game of the Hobbit Series and did so in dramatic fashion, topping the host Ravenhill Darkwings by the score of 5-4 in the 10th inning at The Ballpark at Helms Deep. Kings left fielder Màrku Hammersmelter went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Now holding a 1-0 lead, the Kings will have two chances to close out the Darkwings.
Numenor used the timely hitting of Bruzdrog Headmasher to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Kings on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
“Took some scratching and clawing,” said Hammersmelter. “But we got it done.”
The next game is set to be played for Friday, October 6th , 2051 at Capital One Stadium.
