The Bywater Bounders started the Hobbit Series in dramatic fashion, stealing Game 1 from the Lake Town Archers in a walk-off in the 12th inning. Bywater took the 2-1 win thanks in large part to a good day from starter Lanlla Iseogrin. The left-hander threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball in the win, which gave the Bounders a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-3 series.
Bywater got a knockout punch from Carly Boffin. The center fielder hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the 12th inning to win the game. It might’ve been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
“The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches,” said Iseogrin. “When you don’t execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win.”
Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday at Lake Town Park.
