The Fellowship Series got off to a quiet start, with the host Lothlorien Lumberjacks taking a low-scoring, 2-1 win over the Dagorlad Disaster. Lothlorien right-hander Morelf Dree was marvelous at Celebrant Field. The Lumberjacks now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Doruk the Badger came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Dagorlad pitcher Fredegar Mack, he hit a full count splitter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Lothlorien on top, 2-1.
“Tough loss,” said Dagorlad manager Ghudkuh Ogreprodder. “Tough one to swallow.”
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Celebrant Field in Caras Galadhon.
